Nokia Lumia 800 Battery Life Fix Coming Next Year

Published

on

We just got done talking about Verizon’s battery troubles with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and now we shift our attention to a completely different phone that is apparently dealing with battery issues of its own. That phone is Nokia’s Windows Phone, the Lumia 800, and it seems that scores of users are dealing with less than optimal battery life. Fortunately, Nokia is aware of the issue and it says that it will be issuing a fix in the early part of 2012.

In response to the complaints, Nokia took to its forums and in a lengthy post outlined the situation. On the 12th, Nokia began receiving complaints about lower battery capacity than they expected to see, and that the company immediately began investigating.

According to Nokia, the battery is fine but that there is a software problem on certain variants is limiting the phone’s ability to access the full battery capacity.”

The fix for this software issue will be coming with an update in January of 2012 that not only will contain said fix, but will also have several undisclosed enhancements on board as well.

And for those of you curious to see if your Lumia 800 is affected, try this:

Anyone who wants to know if their phone is affected can run the battery status test from the diagnostics tool already installed on their phone. (The tool is designed for service use and only displays approximate values.) Dialling ##634# opens the diagnostics tool.

The company confirmed that its other Windows Phone, the Lumia 710, which will be the first Windows Phone to hit the U.S., does not suffer from the same battery capacity issue.

The fix is to to turn off mobile network when you don’t need it. You can do it manualy in settings.
Wifi only makes contact when needed.
