Sprint Brings Enhanced 3G to Atlanta for Faster Download Speeds

Atlanta users on Sprint’s 3G Now Network will be able to experience faster mobile broadband speeds as Sprint has now turned on enhanced 3G support for that metropolitan area. Sprint, which had been one of the earlier carriers to lead the campaign for 3G speeds with commercials aimed and targeted at comparing its faster speeds to those of AT&T when 3G was starting to get underway, has recently been hampered by slower 3G connectivity. As such, enhanced 3G should bring good news to Atlanta Sprint users, and hopefully the Now Network will turn on enhanced coverage throughout the rest of the country as it begins to deploy a new 4G LTE network.

From the Fountain of Rings at Centennial Olympic Park to the hills of Stone Mountain, Sprint customers in Atlanta should expect faster data speeds, fewer dropped calls and confidence that Sprint is committed to investing in Georgia and keeping pace with the ever-increasing demand for data.

Most recently, Sprint iPhone users have complained that the iPhone performed the slowest on Sprint than when compared to Verizon or AT&T. Though Sprint has acknowledged the problem and had said it would investigate the connectivity situation, the carrier had never really gave a specific answer or cause of network slowdown. Hopefully, enhanced 3G will help Sprint iPhone customers in Atlanta boost their download speeds.

According to Sprint, the new enhanced 3G network will “give customers greater speeds and a richer, seamless voice experience.”

These network upgrades encompass all aspects of a customer’s wireless experience, including voice, data and in-building solutions. These enhancements to the Sprint 3G Network also should serve to bolster performance of the company’s no-contract brands, including devices operating on the Sprint network fromBoost Mobile and Virgin Mobile USA.

Meanwhile, Sprint also announced that Atlanta, which is a big hub for AT&T, will also be one of the first metropolitan areas where Sprint will turn on 4G LTE. The carrier had announced last month at CES three new 4G LTE devices, and the switch to LTE from WiMax will help Sprint deliver faster 4G speeds to customers as part of the network’s Network Vision strategy.
