10 Reasons Why You’ll Love the iPhone 5s

The iPhone 5s is no longer Apple’s flagship but there are still some things that we think you’ll love about the former flagship even as we stare down a possible iPhone 6s release this fall.

In the fall of 2013, Apple took the stage and announced a follow-up to its popular iPhone 5. The follow-up wasn’t an iPhone 6. Instead, it was an iPhone 5s, a device that built on the solid foundation left behind by the iPhone 5. It’s a device that we picked up immediately and one that we’ve been using ever since.

The iPhone 5s is no longer Apple’s flagship smartphone. That honor belongs to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the two devices that Apple released in September of last year. Despite its age, the iPhone 5s remains on the Apple Store as a budget alternative to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

As we approach the fall, we’re starting to hear rumors about new iPhones, an iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Neither device is confirmed but consumers are starting to keep tabs on the devices as Apple’s usual iPhone launch window in September approaches.

You should also be keeping tabs on Apple’s current stock of iPhones especially if you’re getting desperate. We recommend taking a look at the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s Plus but there are also a few reasons to consider Apple’s iPhone 5s.

We’ve been using the iPhone 5s for nearly two years now. And while it’s not the top of the line iPhone, it’s a device that many people love, us included. With that in mind, we want to take a look at a few things we love about the iPhone 5s. Keep these in mind as you prepare to buy your next iPhone or Android, especially if you’re not looking to break the bank with your purchase.

iOS 9 & Longevity

iOS 9 & Longevity

The iPhone 5s is closing in on its second birthday and from the look of things, it's going to be celebrating at least a few more.

At WWDC in June, Apple confirmed plans to release an iOS 9 update for the iPhone 5s in the fall. It also confirmed an iOS 9 update for the aging iPhone 4s. The iOS 9 update will be the iPhone 4s' fourth major update.

That's big news for current iPhone 5s users and those who are thinking about picking it up because it means that the iPhone 5s could get two more years of software updates. Apple usually offers three but we've seen it shift to a four year for both iPhone and iPad. Android phones simply can't match this kind of support.

What's more is that the iPhone 5s' next update could be a big one. iOS 9 is focused on delivering improved performance for older devices and the iPhone 5s, like Apple's other older iOS devices, stands to benefit from it.

The iPhone 5s still has a lot of life left in it and that makes it an investment worth considering now and in the weeks and months down the road.
