The last thing you want is for the device or an app to malfunction when you need it most. Do your homework. Check in with IT or read app reviews before making a move. According to some iOS 8.4 users, apps have been acting up after iOS 8.4.
You also shouldn't install the iOS 8.4 update while traveling (there's too much risk involved) or if you're not interested in iOS 8.4 and its changes. If you're having an excellent experience on iOS 8.3 or below and you don't care about Apple Music or the iBooks changes, you can take your time and dig into the pros and cons before installing.
