Nexus smartphones haven't really been known for their design, and are more known for running stock Android and being wallet friendly.

The Nexus 6 is an exception to the traditional Nexus rule. Google offered up a device with a durable design wrapped in a lightweight but premium brushed aluminum ring around the edges, and even the power and volume buttons are metal. Previously all Nexus phones were cheap plastic, especially the plain and boring all-black Nexus 5.

The Nexus 6 is as premium as it gets. It looks and feels like a top-end device, and that's because it is one. And it should be considering the high $649 price tag. It's worth noting the rumored Huawei-made Nexus 6 for 2015 is said to have a similar brushed aluminum premium design, but won't cost so darn much.
