Microsoft has pushed the idea of digital pens since it first tried to make tablet PCs an everyday device. Devices like Surface made having a digital pen normal. The Windows 10 Anniversary Update seeks to make them more useful. Joining the built-in OneNote app is Windows Ink, a set of tools for inking. There are digital stencils for drawing, a screen capture tool and new Sticky Notes that finally integrate with the rest of Windows 10, like Calendar and Mail.
Settings for pens are now directly integrated into the Settings app for devices like Surface.
