GottaBeMobile’s HP Magic Giveaway Winner Announced

Published

on

Of all the contests we’ve run on GottaBeMobile, this one has been by far the hardest to judge. There were so many compelling entries and videos submitted: from husbands being laid off just weeks ago to folks wanting to help out various organizations in need to people not even making ends meet, it is very clear that there are a ton of hurting folks out there that just need a little helping hand and encouragement. I only wish I had something to award everyone who submitted an entry. Thank you for taking the time to enter, for submitting awesome videos, for thinking of others in need, and for pouring your heart out.

And now on to the winner of GBM’s HP Magic Giveaway contest……

Congratulations to Dave Arpino, the winner of $6,000 in HP computers, Microsoft and Windows Live software, and various HP accessories! Dave’s entry really touched my heart because of who he nominated, what he was donating to them, and their mission. Dave “spread the magic”   by nominating The Restoration House, a non-profit whose mission is to help birth and single mother families by providing them housing and other services necessary in helping single mothers achieve their goals and dreams. Except for the TouchSmart PC, which Dave really wants for himself, Dave will be donating the rest of prize package, including several of his own tablet pcs, desktops, and a server to the Restoration House. Dave Arpino, and his nomination of The Restoration House, represents an amazing opportunity to help a lot single mothers and their children with some amazing technology.

In addition to submitting a regular text entry,   Dave also submitted a video entry, and has been quite active in our forums. He earned bonus points all the way around. Most of the regulars in our forums will recognize Dave Arpino as “DaveTN”.

Here is an excerpt from the Arpino’s nomination entry, a video about The Restoration House, and the Arpino’s nomination video as well. I encourage you to visit their website to learn more. Dave, we look forward to hearing from you on how your donation to The Restoration House was received, and enjoy the heck out of that HP TouchSmart PC, ok?

For those that didn’t win, don’t forget to checkout the remaining contests – there are still plenty of opportunities.

Excerpt of Text Entry

I would like to nominate Mandy and Daniel Watson who own and operate “The Restoration House“, a non-profit home for single mothers. The Restoration House provides not only a home and work but fellowship, jobs training skills, and counseling for women with children who can not afford a place to live and need to learn the skills necessary to function in the real world. Daniel and Mandy started the house on their own and survive by donations and non-profit funding. They purchased an old apartment complex and did most of the refurbishing themselves. Currently, they are at their max number of families until they can get more units ready to live in. I’m not convinced this is a good choice. But, there is so much whinning in some of the posts at some of the other blogs that it would be hard to choose. The industry I grew
up in was the 1st to use computers. It’s still male dominated. Most of your readers aren’t going to give up their jobs for one of these women.

This HP contest has been my 1st experience with blogs, viewing more than half of the 50. I find blogs lacking in intellectual and original content, such as research, but even more disappointing lacking in risk. That is what has brought our nation, the U.S., to it’s knees. The Germans are B******s, but they take politically unpopular risks for their idealogy.

20’s years ago I was blackballed for being too competitive,
a workaholic and overskilled. The men I worked with wanted to go home early, not to have to compete to create new ideas and to be able to insult women without anyone critiquing their behavior. They won, in large part because the NY Times employed women lawyers who were dirty and had no scruples.

Life skills are perfecting the ability say NO (I was almost the oldest virgin in my home town), the courage to disagree when someone is wrong, and knowing yourself. You can’t find that in a computer. I did bring the 1st lawsuit in the history of this country about DataVeillance being used to retaliate against women, my opinion is noteworthy. I didn’t own a computer, just a glorified word processor.

I am absolutely honored about winning. Rob, HP, Microsoft, the Buzz Corps could not have made a better choice and I am truely honored and BLESSED to have been chosen as the winner. Mandy and Daniel did not know that I entered them in the contest and they are having a tough time right now with all the needs for the house and the families. This is especially a tough time of the year for all of them. I am about to make a call to Daniel and tell him about what he has won.
I’ll be putting a post together in the coming days and will share the story with all of you when the gifts are presented.

God bless you all and thank you from the bottom of my heart!
