Microsoft Kinect Controls Windows 7 PC, Brings Multi-user Multi-touch to the Desktop

Published

on

The Microsoft Kinect sensor is one of the most impressive bits of consumer technology released this year and it’s going to impact much more than just the XBOX 360. A team of engineers has hacked the Kinect sensor to control a Windows 7 PC.  In this demo you can see how a user can control the desktop, menus and applications.

If you watch the entire clip you’ll notice something that’s very Microsoft Surface like. That’s multi-toch controls for multiple users. That’s right, one of the coolest features of Microsoft Surface can be yours for all of $149, assuming you’re handy with computer code.

Kudos to the guys from MIT’s media lab. I’m sure they’ll have jobs waiting for them at Microsoft when they graduate.
