Two New BlackBerry PlayBook Tablets Coming in 2012?

Published

on

It would appear that RIM hasn’t given up on the tablet business just yet as N4BB is reporting that the company is gearing up to release not just one, but two new BlackBerry PlayBook tablets in 2012. RIM will apparently be launching a 7-inch version of the PlayBook in April, which will be 3G, and then in December, launch a 10-inch LTE version of the PlayBook.

That December date, while far off, isn’t too surprising given the fact that RIM has already confirmed that devices have been delayed due to the LTE chipset which is being made by Qualcomm.

Unfortunately, no other details about the tablets were revealed.

The report reveals some other things on the RIM timeline as well. The company is supposedly going to be releasing its first BlackBerry 10 smartphone sometime in September, which adds up with previous reports.

BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 is also slated to be coming out in February of this year and will include a unified inbox, customizable tabs, and apps like calendar and contacts.

In addition, RIM is apparently gearing up to launch PlayBook Admin Service at the end of February, Mobile Fusion in April of this year, and will apparently release two new BlackBerry Curves in emerging markets which include East Asia and Africa.

So, as you can see, it appears that there is going to be quite a bit of waiting for RIM to release some of these next-generation devices, something that probably isn’t music to the ears of those that are fans of RIM and its BlackBerry devices.
