Apple just sent out press invites for the company’s iPad 3 event.

The iPad 3 announcement will take place on March 7th at 10 AM Pacific at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, where Apple has announced the iPad and iPad 2.

On March 7th, we’ll finally find out everything we want to know about the iPad 3 specs, what the iPad 3 looks like and how much it will cost.

“We have something you really have to see. And touch.” beckons the Apple iPad 3 event announcement.

The press invite shown above has a nice teaser for the event, which fuels the many iPad 3 rumors swirling about.

Of course you can’t actually tell if the iPad shown in the announcement has a super high-resolution Retina Display, but based on the wording of the invite, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear Tim Cook announce the iPad 3 with a Retina Display on Wednesday March 7th.

The Retina Display is all but confirmed thanks to multiple leaks and replacement parts which have appeared in the hands of several sources, but we still don’t know if Apple will announce a quad-core iPad 3, a 4G LTE iPad 3 or even a smaller 8-inch iPad.

Now that the iPad 3 event has been announced, you should really think about selling your iPad 2 to upgrade to the iPad 3 before prices tank. If you follow our advice you can keep your iPad until after the iPad 3 release date, which could be as early as March 16th or March 23rd.

Stay tuned for the iPad 3 announcement coverage and live in-line coverage of the iPad 3 release date in March.
