Apple Stores Matching iPhone 4S Price Discounts Ahead of iPhone 5 Launch

Published

Apple retail stores have reportedly started to match price discounts that have started cropping up at carriers and select retailers ahead of the iPhone 5 release date.

According to evidence secured by MacRumors, Apple retail stores will now match iPhone price discounts when requested by customers. The price matching is not available to those who order the iPhone online and apparently only exists inside of Apple retail stores.

Apple retail stores have, according to the evidence, been instructed to knock the prices of the devices down by $49.01 when requested. That price matches the $149.99 iPhone 4S price that Sprint recently started asking for Apple’s current generation smartphone.

Apple stores will apparently match iPhone 4S price discounts.

That means that Apple stores will sell the iPhone 4S for $349.99 for a 64GB mode, $249.99 for a 32GB, and $149.99 for the 16GB iPhone 4S.

Apple normally charges $199.99, $299.99 and $399.99 for the iPhone 4S.

Best Buy, Radio Shack and Target have also slashed the prices of their iPhone models ahead of the Apple iPhone 5 announcement which is rumored to be taking place in September.

It’s unclear exactly how the offer will work but most price matching offers require customers to indicate where they found the lower price. Fortunately, that information is easily found.

iPhone 5 Release Date

While Apple hasn’t confirmed anything as of yet, the company is currently rumored to be announcing the iPhone 5 on September 12th with a release date coming on September 21st.

This would be a bit different than the October launch and release date for the iPhone 4S.

With all of the discounting going on with the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, it’s clear that we’re swiftly approaching the iPhone 5’s launch and release.

iPhone 5 Rumors

Like its release date, the iPhone 5 itself remains unofficial. However, there have been numerous leaks that have seemed to point to a host of new features.

Chief among those is the possibility that the iPhone 5 will be taller and boast a 4-inch display, up from the regular 3.5-inch display that has appeared on all other iPhone devices.
