Deep Discounts Hint New Kindles Coming Soon

Published

on

Amazon might be ready to unveil a few new Kindles sometime in the near future if today’s Gold Box deals are any indication.

As Gizmodo first noted, today Amazon put the Kindle DX on sale for $269, a full $110 below its original price. The Amazon Kindle DX is the company’s 10-inch eReader which hasn’t seen an update in a long time. Now it looks like Amazon might want to clear out some stock of the gigantic eReader.

Amazon already cleared out stock of at least one Kindle device. The Amazon Kindle Touch 3G is currently out of stock at the e-retailer, with no estimates on when it will return. The Wi-Fi model isn’t out of stock, but Amazon can only guarantee shipment in four to seven days, which means Amazon only has limited stock of the unit.

Based on those facts, it seems obvious that Amazon will announce new Kindles sometime within the next few weeks. The other option is the company is finally killing off the Kindle DX, and simply has supply chain issues for the Kindle Touch.

Rumors say Amazon has a plan to release a Kindle Touch with a front-lit screen to compete with the Nook Simple Touch WIth Glowlight, and this could be a sign that we’ll see the new device soon.

Amazon isn’t putting the Kindle Fire on sale, nor is stock limited, but the company is selling a lot of Kindle Fire accessories in the Gold Box. Those could be just sales, or the company is clearing out stock of those as well. The latest rumors say Amazon is working on multiple new Kindle Fires, including a 10-inch model which might replace the Kindle DX.

We look forward to hearing about the event to officially announce the new Kindles which should come to market sometime soon.

I would so badly want a new Kindle DX living up to today’s standard for portable device at a reasonable price (not as expensive as an iPad!).
