Nokia Lumia 920 Screen Is Super Fast and Super Sensitive (Video)

on

No major smartphone can launch without a (usually) ridiculous name for its display, and the Nokia Lumia 920 is no different. The Lumia 920 has a “PureMotion HD+” display, which sounds like put marketing talk, but it does have meaning.

The PureMotion HD+ display in the Lumia 920 measures 4.7-inches, and has a resolution of 1280×768 (WXGA), which is slightly more pixels than 720p. Nokia attached the “HD+” moniker to the end of the name to signify the higher resolution which is the highest Windows Phone 8 can reach.

The PureMotion name means the screen has a very high refresh rate. A high refresh rate means the pixels move faster across the screen, which results in less motion blur. That’s great for scrolling really fast through the Start Screen and for watching video of any sort.

Nokia’s Lumia 920 also uses an advanced form of the company’s ClearBlack technology to make the screen visible in direct sunlight. During the presentation the company even claimed the screen is still readable in the direct sun of the desert. We’re not sure we want to try it in a desert, but we appreciate any display we can see while outdoors.

Finally, Nokia made the 4.7-inch display of the Lumia 920 very sensitive. Using “Super Sensitive Touch” technology from Synaptics Lumia 920 users can interact with their smartphone in cold weather without removing their gloves.

The Nokia Lumia 920 display works with fingernails, car keys and gloves.

For the first time smartphones users can control their capacitive touchscreens without worrying about buying specialty gloves or freezing their fingers. Users can also use their keys on the display or fingernails. We suggest fingernails instead of sharp metal. Watch the key touch screen use in the video below. Skip to 1:24 to see it in action.

i think the new features are great but I think that 4,5″ is to big to keep it in my pocket easily.
Pitty that the Lumia820 lacks the PureView features, but understandable to keep difference between 820 and 920
