Hide Unused Apps on the iPhone without an iOS 6 Jailbreak

Published

on

Users can now hid unused app icons on the iPhone 5 and older iPhones without the need for an iOS 6 jailbreak.

Apple includes a number of stock iPhone apps that users cannot uninstall, but with some programming tricks users can hide the apps from their iPhone instead of putting them in a folder.

This is the only way iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S users on iOS 6 can hide these system apps as there is no iOS 6 jailbreak for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S yet.

The trick only lasts until the iPhone or iPad restarts, so it’s far from a permanent solution, but users can re-use the service again to hide the apps once more.

Hide unused iPhone apps Apple won’t let you delete.

Twitter user @Ragemasta shares this iPhone hack, providing links to hide apps on the iPhone. The hack appears to trick the iPhone into updating the app, then stalling, allowing users to delete it like any other app. After this, the app is gone, but it returns after the iPhone restarts.

The tool can hide the following iPhone apps;

  • Newstand
  • GameCenter
  • Weather
  • Stocks
  • Voice Memos
  • Compass
  • Notes
  • Maps
  • Contacts
  • Camera
  • Calculator
  • AppStore

To hide apps on the iPhone or iPad, open the App hiding website on the iPhoneTap on the icon (in the browser) you want to hide.

Install the hack.

When prompted select Install.

The install should fail.

The install will fail, that’s OK. Tap on Done.

Find the app on the iPhone homescreen and hold until the delete icon appears. Tap the X to hide the icon.

Tap X to hide the app.

The app returns after restarting the iPhone.

In testing this tool hides app icons as advertised. Restarting the iPhone 5 brought the icons back to iPhone, though not in the original folder. Ragemasta warns this is a beta, so use the tool at your own risk.

Users looking to hide these apps without tricking the iPhone may want to put all the unused app icons in a folder and hide it on the last home screen.

Another way to “hide” unwanted icons is to simply move them to the very last, unused page, and never flip to it.

      hi,

I tried your methode, but it doesn’t work… Once i push the home button, it deletes all the emty pages, so the icons or map i would like to hide jumps back to the 3rd page!
Even if i set an icon on every page, the last ‘hidden’ page is still available…
And it’s not opertune to scroll all the page and see 1 icon.

What am i doing wrong…?? I have an iPhone 5 and iPad 2.

Is it even possible to hide some icons but still be able to use it on a other way?
Whitout jailbreak or rebooting the iOS device every time?
For ex. adult content on thé iPad 2 (or iPhone)…

      Thanks in advance!!
