HTC Counts Down to HTC One Launch

Published

Today HTC put up a teaser on its website for its February 19 event that seems to confirm the HTC One name for the phone previously known as the HTC M7.

The teaser counts down to the February 19 event in New York City and London down to the second. While a countdown by itself is not that interesting, every ten seconds the teaser shows a brief glimpse of the new HTC phone. As if to prove the phone is the HTC One, each teaser appears behind the countdown every time the seconds counter shows a “1.”

The teasers only show parts of the phone with enough lens flares to make JJ Abrams jealous, so its hard to get a full picture of the phone from the images. The sections that are easy to see show the HTC logo, the back camera and a stripe along the back of the device. The camera looks similar to the camera on the HTC One X while the stripe is more similar to the HTC EVO 4G LTE.

HTC’s teaser shots also show a button of some sort and what looks like a chamfered edge on a corner of the HTC One. The button could be the rumored camera button of the phone, but it’s difficult to say for sure.HTC One leaked image

The chamfered edge seems to prove the phone will look like the recently leaked press image. That image showed an HTC smartphone that takes a few cues from the iPhone 5. It doesn’t look exactly like Apple’s smartphone, but the resemblance is uncanny.

HTC will launch the HTC One next week, and there’s a chance it may release the phone in early March. Rumors of the device say it will have a 4.7-inch 1080p display and use a quad-core processor. The phone will likely run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with the new HTC Sense 5 on top of it

HTC hinted the camera is a big deal in the phone, and rumors say it will have three sensors to form what HTC might call and “Ultra Pixel” camera.
