T-Mobile iPhone 5 Arrives to Revolutionize Wireless

Published

on

The T-Mobile iPhone 5 is now available at T-Mobile stores around the country for $99, marking the first time T-Mobile customers can purchase an iPhone direct from the carrier.

T-Mobile is no stranger to iPhones, but previously users were left to find their own iPhone and add it to T-Mobile at less than stellar speeds. The new T-Mobile iPhone includes support for faster speeds and even runs on the new T-Mobile LTE network.

The new T-Mobile iPhone 5 lands as the carrier kicks off a new initiative to separate contracts from phone plans. The new UNcarrier initiative drops the up front price of the phone and asks users to pay for it over the course of two years. With this new take on wireless, there is no contract for the plan, so users can pay off the price of the phone at any time and walk away from T-Mobile.

The T-Mobile iPhone 5 is $99 up front with $20 monthly payments, and T-Mobile is hoping to make that zero down for users who are willing to trade in an old iPhone. Though there may be better trade in deals out there from Gazelle and NextWorth.

To kick off the new venture, T-Mobile debuted a new iPhone 5 ad the morning. The new T-Mobile iPhone 5 ad looks like an Apple approved message and invites shoppers to get the “phone that’s revolutionizing phones,” on T-Mobile, telling user that it’s,  “the carrier that’s revolutionizing wireless.”

In addition to the iPhone 5, T-Mobile offers the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 at lower up front costs than other carriers, but the users still pay for the phone on a monthly basis.

A recent update T-Mobile update arrived for the iPhone 5 which unlocks LTE, visual voicemail and HD voice on unlocked iPhones running on the T-Mobile network.

Rumors point to an iPhone 5S release later this summer, which may be soon enough for some users to wait for an iPhone 5S on T-Mobile rather than getting a phone that is a model behind within a few months.

I hope T-Mobile offers the Samsung Galaxy S4 at a good price and lower than the $199 of ATT and Verizon whom force you to sign a 2 year contract at more expensive monthly plans than T-Mobile.

It’s great that T-Mobile finally carries the iPhone 5. I think the new phone could be successful for T-Mobile because of the option to get an unlimited data plan with actual useable speeds. I like watching my live and recorded shows on my current phone while I’m on my way to and from work at DISH, since it takes some time to get there. I use the DISH Anywhere app on my phone to stream shows that I’ve missed, and I think it’ll be nice to stream as many of my shows as I want on the new iPhone without worrying about hitting a data limit.
