New Nexus 7 Available In-Store Today
Following this week’s launch of the new Nexus 7, Google announced that the device would be available at some major retailers on July 30th, however users might not have to wait that long. Best Buy is now offering the new Nexus 7 for purchase.
According to the company’s website, users can pick up the WiFi only versions of the tablet in their stores today, though users can’t purchase the device for delivery. Best Buy is only offering the new Nexus 7 with 16GB of on-board storage for $229, and the new Nexus 7 with 32GB of on-board storage for $269.
The New Nexus 7
The company isn’t offering any version of the Nexus 7 that features wireless data connectivity, unfortunately. Google didn’t announce an exact date on when users might be able to pick up an LTE enabled device, however it did say that the device will be compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon’s LTE data networks. Google did say that the new Nexus 7 with LTE will début in the coming “weeks”. We do know that the Nexus 7 with LTE will only ship with 32GB of on-board storage. The device will cost $350.

It seems that the new Nexus 7 is still scheduled to go on sale at GameStop, Walmart, Staples, OfficeMax, OfficeDepot, Amazon, HSN, RadioShack and B&H on July 30th.
The new Nexus 7 keeps the physical dimensions of the original Nexus 7, while eliminating many of the complaints about the original device. Unlike the original device, this Nexus 7 includes a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera as well as a front-facing camera for video chatting and taking self-portraits. Google has managed to eliminate a lot of the bezel around the device’s upgraded 7″ inch, 1920 x 1200 resolution display.
Google has also upped the raw processing power in the new Nexus 7. This device features a Snapdragon S4 pro processor that Android 4.3 uses to generate better graphics. The device also features support for the Qi wireless charging data standard.
There is still no word on when users might be able to pick up a 10” inch Nexus device with the feature enhancements of the Nexus 7, though Google executives have confirmed that a refreshed Nexus 10 is coming at some point.
