iPhone 5S vs. iPhone 5C Photos Show Aluminum & Plastic

Apple is rumored to be just mere days away from introducing its new iPhones, dubbed iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C and the leaks keep on coming as new iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S photos have emerged offering prospective buyers a look at how the iPhone 5C’s plastic shell will look next to the iPhone 5S’ aluminum frame.

The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are heavily rumored to be making their debuts at a launch event on September 10th. Apple still hasn’t set that date in stone but it’s clear that that will be the day that the company announces its iPhone plans barring an unforeseen change in plans. And while the iPhones both remain unofficial, they have been leaking out for the camera ahead of time, giving buyers a look at what to expect from the cheap and premium versions of Apple’s 2013 iPhone models.

The iPhone 5S is heavily rumored to be using the iPhone 5 design with anodized aluminum back and glass holding it all together. If true, the device will be slim and lightweight, just like the 7.1mm iPhone 5. The iPhone 5C is expected to be a cheap iPhone model, made of plastic, rather than aluminum. Rumors peg it as replacing either the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 4S on shelves.

Both devices have been leaking out ahead of their launch date and today, thanks to Sonny Dickson, we’re getting a close up look at how the plastic iPhone 5C looks compared to the aluminum iPhone 5S.

The back shells are similar to the shells that we’ve already seen. In this case, we see a plastic blue back shell, presumably for the iPhone 5C, that includes a headphone jack and Lightning port on the bottom. It doesn’t exactly mirror the shape of the iPhone 5 but there are similarities.

The iPhone 5S that we see is the rumored gold shell that is said to be coming with the iPhone 5S at launch. The shell looks a lot like the iPhone 5’s, complete with new LED flash, speaker grill, Lightning port and headphone jack. It also appears to be quite thin.

These photos don’t offer much in terms of new features but they do offer a close up look at just how Apple’s designs will compare to each other.

Apple’s iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are both rumored to be coming out on September 20th. The iPhone 5S is expected to have a new camera, better processor and a fingerprint reader on board while the iPhone 5C is expected to have a 4-inch Retina Display and 8MP to 5MP camera.
