T-Mobile HTC One Android 4.3 Update Rolling Out Now

Published

on

T-Mobile subscribers with the HTC One can now update their devices to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the latest version of Google’s Android operating system.

T-Mobile formally began the roll out of the Android 4.3 update to users today. While the update comes about a week after Android 4.3 began going out to users of the HTC One on AT&T, it does mesh with the time-table that HTC’s Jason Mackenzie announced on Twitter last week.

Users can download the update over their wireless data connection, however it’s probably not a good idea to do so if they are already close to surpassing their allotment of data. Users should connect to a strong Wi-Fi signal and leave the device alone to run the update for an hour at least. It is also a good idea to plug the device in. That way it doesn’t lose power while downloading or installing the update.

As for new features, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for the HTC One includes the ability to add an Instagram account to the HTC One’s Blinkfeed news and social network reader and the ability to add widgets to the HTC One’s lock screen.

Android 4.3 is now available as an update for T-Mobile HTC One owners.

The update also includes a few feature additions that are designed to bring the HTC One in-line with other Android powered smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S4. Users can now adjust many of their device’s settings by dragging down from the top of the screen. Adjustable settings include mobile hotspot, airplane mode, power saver mode, rotation lock, Wi-Fi settings and sound profiles.

HTC One users can also look forward to better battery life when pairing their HTC One with smartwatches and fitness accessories that also support the new Bluetooth 4.0 standard. HTC has also changed the Home Key so that holding it down will automatically activate Google Now, Android’s intelligent search service.

To update the HTC One, open the Settings application and navigate to the About area of the app, then tap Software updates.
