Moto X Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update Heads to AT&T

Published

on

Late last week we confirmed the Moto X Android 4.4.2 KitKat update was preparing to wrap up in the United States, with the last major carrier finally preparing to push it live.

Over the course of the past 30 days, Motorola has pushed the absolute latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat to the Moto X across all major US carriers but one, and that is AT&T. Users on Verizon, T-Mobile and all major networks received the latest software, and starting this week Motorola will be putting the final touches on it for AT&T.

As usual, Motorola is hosting what the company calls a “soak test” where it issues the software to members of the public beta testing team, called the Motorola Feedback Network. This was confirmed last week, but sadly the update never actually started rolling out for users to test.

Today though, AndroidCentral and a few other reports have confirmed that as of this afternoon the Moto X Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is headed to AT&T devices, and the full rollout for all users shouldn’t be too far behind.

Soak tests usually arrive for each individual carrier and are followed by the full rollout of the latest software for all users in a matter of days, if not a week at most. However, if AT&T users find issues the update could be delayed, but with a smooth transition to Android 4.4.2 on the Moto X from other carriers, we’re not expecting any difficulties for those still waiting.

If everything goes according to plan we could see the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update arrive on the AT&T Moto X by the end of the week, if not sooner.
