iPhone 6: Video Delivers Detailed Look at Rumors

A new video shows off the alleged iPhone 6 model in detail and offers an up close and personal look at the iPhone 6 rumors ahead of the new iPhone release date.

iPhone 6 rumors have been surfacing on a regular basis, teasing prospective buyers with alleged details about its screen sizes, screen resolution, release date, processor, camera, and its design. For weeks, we’ve seen a supposed iPhone 6 model making the rounds, showcasing everything from potential changes to the iPhone’s buttons to the dimensions that could arrive with the new iPhone.

Over the weekend, Marques Brownlee showed off the alleged iPhone 6 model once again and the video offers a detailed glimpse at what could very well be the design that comes on board the next iPhone, presumably called the iPhone 6.

Once again, we’re treated to a device that looks a whole lot different than the iPhone 5s. We see that the volume buttons are now ovals, different from the small circles that dominated the right side of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5. We also once again see the thinner bezels, the larger display, and the rounded edges that are all supposedly going to be some the massive changes that Apple delivers with its new iPhone release.

While the model still hasn’t been confirmed to look exactly like the next iPhone, the model is based on many of the iPhone 6 rumors that have surfaced over the past few months ahead of Apple’s announcement.

iPhone 6 rumors suggest that Apple could deliver an iPhone 6 that is up to 26% thinner than the iPhone 5s. A recent leak from Ukrainian website suggests Apple is aiming for a smartphone as thin as 6mm, but Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities believes a 6.5 – 7mm thickness is easier for the company to achieve. Recent leaks agree with Kuo’s assessment and point to an iPhone 6 that could measure right around 7mm thin, just like the model seen here.

A Macotakara report shared two possible sets of iPhone 6 dimensions for both the 4.7-inch model and 5+inch model. Here is how the two rumored iPhone 6 models could stack up with the iPhone 5s:

  • iPhone 6 (4.7) -140 x 70 x 7mm
  • iPhone 6 (5.7) – 160 x 80 x 7mm
  • iPhone 5s – 124 x 58 x 7.6mm

In a note shared by MacRumors, Kuo also says that he believes that the iPhone 6 will come with a power button on the right and bezels that are narrower than those found on the iPhone 5s. This lines up with what we’ve seen emerge on these iPhone 6 models though it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s confirmed.

Kuo did accurately predict many of the iPhone 5’s features ahead of launch so his information is considered to be more credible than most.

iPhone 6 features

iPhone 6 rumors currently point to two different iPhone 6 models. One is rumored be between 4.5-inches and 4.7-inches in size while the other could be in and around 5.5-inches. Recent leaks have shown just how a 5.5-inch iPhone 6 could compare to the 4.7-inch model, a device that could be Apple’s home brewed Samsung Galaxy Note 4 competitor.

While the iPhone 6 rumors continue to swirl, the biggest iPhone 6 leak to date comes from the well-sourced Kuo. He sees an iPhone 6 coming with some substantial hardware upgrades including:

  • iPhone 6 Screen Size and Resolution – 4.7- inch (1334 x 750) 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080).
  • iPhone 6 Release Dates – 4.7-inch in September, 5.5-inch in Holiday season.
  • iPhone 6 Design – Power button on right, narrower bezels, larger iPhone 6 as two-hands needed.
  • iPhone 6 Camera – No major Megapixel bump, but added image stability.
  • iPhone 6 Specs – A8, 1GB RAM, Touch ID, 6.5mm to 7mm thickness, NFC.

A recent 9to5Mac report asserts that the iPhone 6 could come with a higher 1794 x 960 Retina Display and the same 16:9 aspect ratio that Apple has applied to its iPhones since the iPhone 5′s release back in 2012. This jump in resolution would lead to better, crisper looking on-screen content.

Kuo’s release date information lines up with rumors that point to an iPhone 6 release date in September. It’s still not clear if both iPhone 6 models, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6, will emerge in the fall. Rumors have pointed to a delayed release for the larger iPhone, possibly into 2015, though that remains unconfirmed.

Apple is, however, expected to show off the iPhone 6’s software in just a few short days. WWDC 2014 kicks off on June 2nd and there, Apple will likely use the keynote to deliver details about OS X 10.10 for Mac and iOS 8 for the iPhone and iPad. iOS 8 is expected to deliver a number of new features, many of which are detailed in the video below.

The company is also expected to announce new hardware and while some believe it could be new MacBook Air models with Retina Display, signs point to a potential iMac refresh.
