LG G3 Stylus Release Date & Rumors Emerge

Earlier this week a brand new mystery LG smartphone was shown off during an LG G3 teaser video, and now we’re already starting to dig up more information on this stylus-touting device. It’s the LG G3 Stylus.

Back in May the LG G3 was officially announced after months of rumors and speculation. Delivering tons of quality features in a top tier device. Shortly after, LG announced a new smaller version called the LG G3 Beat, or the LG G3 Mini for the United States. However, their video revealed one more G3 version is on the way.

The device is being called the LG G3 Stylus, and after initial reports suggested this could be a bigger G3 aimed at taking on the upcoming Galaxy Note 4, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Read on for more details regarding the LG G3 Stylus, and what we know so far.

The video below is a new ad spot or commercial for the upcoming LG G3 Beat (Mini) but at the end LG flashes three smartphones, not just one. Showing an entire family including the LG G3, the G3 Beat, and the new accidentally revealed LG G3 Stylus. This immediately had many expecting a Note 4 rival was in the works, but new reports are putting those rumors down.

According to The Korean Times, LG indeed has a new smartphone coming out before the end of September that will be called the LG G3 Stylus. They only state it will arrive before Q3 comes to a close, so a release date could be closer than expected. That being said, LG will likely debut the phone in September during IFA after Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 unveil.

If their report is accurate, the LG G3 Stylus will be very similar to the current flagship LG G3 that’s readily available around the globe, but will be a “paired down version.” Korean Times suggests the Stylus-touting G3 will likely be the same 5.5-inch size, but the video below appears to show a slightly larger device. (Hint, fast forward to the end of this ridiculous video)

From what we’re hearing out of Korea, the LG G3 Stylus will offer nearly everything the current G3 does, but drop a few specs down to make it what LG would consider a “budget device”. The main two areas will be the display and battery life. The LG G3 has one of the best 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD displays on the market, and the battery is 3,000 mAh. Both of these specs are better than the Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8.

What this means is we may get a smaller 2,800 mAh battery and only a 1080p HD display, in order to make this device more wallet-friendly and fit a built-in stylus. However, if that indeed is the case the LG G3 Stylus will still be able to compete with, or beat out the Galaxy S5 in terms of what is has to offer, and could be perfectly positioned between the Galaxy S5, LG G3, and the new Galaxy Note 4.

Again, the report suggests that the device will overall be quite similar to the flagship LG G3, but a few of the specs will be paired down to meet a certain price point. At the time we’re not sure if the LG G3 Stylus will ever come to the United States, but they’ve offered stylus-packing devices in the past like the LG Intuition from Verizon Wireless.

The annual IFA Tradeshow kicks off in September in Berlin, Germany, where we expect to see the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4, likely the new LG G3 Stylus, and many other smartphones and tablets from manufacturers around the globe. Stay tuned for more details, and we’ll report back once we know more on this new Galaxy Note competitor from LG.
