Today was a big day for Android with Google announcing the all-new Moto Nexus 6, the HTC Nexus 9, and of course the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update. And while that’s all great, owners are curious about the update for existing devices. Today Motorola shed light on the update for all its current smartphone owners.

Motorola has worked extremely close with Google over the past year, and was the first manufacturer to issue updates out to Android 4.4 KitKat when it debuted back in November of 2013. The same quick update is apparently on the way for the Moto X (both 2013 and 2014) Moto G, Moto E, and last years Moto DROID lineup.

The update to Android 5.0 Lollipop is surely coming soon for a lot of devices, but it won’t be considered officially released until November 3rd when the Nexus 9 tablet officially goes on sale. After that, we can expect all manufacturers to quickly begin working on, certifying, and pushing updates to their handsets, and Motorola confirmed exactly that this afternoon.

In a blog post today during all the Nexus and Android 5.0 Lollipop excitement, Motorola confirmed an entire slew of their popular smartphones will all be updated to the absolute latest Android 5.0 Lollipop, and get it quickly.

Motorola confirmed both the original Moto X and the new Moto X 2014 will see updates, the Moto G from 2013 and the new Moto G, the Moto G 4G LTE, as well as their budget-friendly Moto E. These are all the main devices the company released in 2013, and everything that’s been released thus far in 2014. Good news.

So what about those on Verizon? The Motorola DROID Ultra, DROID MAXX, and DROID Mini are all on the list as well.

Here's how the Apple iPhone 6 Plus compares to the Google Nexus 6 as big screens face off in 2014.

Motorola is proud to announce they’ve partnered with Google to create the all new Moto Nexus 6, the first smartphone released running the brand new Android 5.0 Lollipop. That, together with their ongoing commitment to release quick and timely Android software updates and a pure version of Android to all its latest devices.

It’s worth noting that later this month a new Moto DROID Turbo will be announced and released for Verizon Wireless, running Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and surely once that device is officially announced it will be added to the list for a quick update to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The Android 5.0 SDK and final built isn’t set to be released until October 17th, and then the first product with it installed out of the box will be the Nexus 9 when it gets released on November 3rd. This means that most likely users of the Moto X, G, E and DROID’s can expect an update sometime in November, or early December.

Again, Motorola was the fastest manufacturer to Android 4.4 KitKat last year, and it’s highly likely we’ll see something similar this year with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Motorola reminds users that more details and updates will be available for each device from the official Motorola update page.
