Microsoft has yet to announce any new high-end smartphones to compete with Apple’s iPhone 6 on every single feature, but its Lumia 830 iPhone alternative can compete with the iPhone’s camera and pricing. AT&T users won’t have to wait long to find out just how well the two devices stack up against each other either, earlier today Microsoft revealed the AT&T Lumia 830 release date details and a special offer for health-minded buyers.

The AT&T Lumia 830 will arrive on store shelves and AT&T’s website beginning November 7th. Purchased without a two-year contract the AT&T Lumia 830 will cost $449.99. Purchased with a two-year contract the AT&T Lumia 830 will run users $99.99. AT&T Next buyers will pay nothing up front and $18.75 a month for the next eighteen months. AT&T Next is a financing service that breaks down the cost of devices over time.

With the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system Microsoft added options for appropriately equipped Windows Phones to track user’s steps and help keep them active. The Lumia 830 supports this technology and to boost its profile AT&T is giving buyers a free Fitbit Flex with their Lumia 830 at absolutely no extra cost. The Fitbit Flex is a fitness band that tracks physical activity and normally costs $99.99 on its own. FitBit integrates with Microsoft’s Cortana personal assistant by letting users track their eating habits too. Cortana was also introduced in Windows Phone 8.1. It’s similar to Apple’s Siri but learns about users habits actively like Google Now, the voice search system built into Android.

Microsoft first showed off the Lumia 830 earlier this year and it’s already available internationally. The Lumia 830 is a mid-range smartphone with some very high-end additions. The Lumia 830 beats the iPhone 6 in a few key ways. Whereas the iPhone 6 includes an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with flash, the Lumia 830 sports a 10 megapixel rear-facing camera. iPhone buyers need to upgrade to the more expensive iPhone 6 Plus to get optical image stabilization. The Lumia 830 offers optical image stabilization out-right. Optical image stabilization lets users record video and take photos without the ill effects caused by not being able to hold the phone steady.

Inside are a few other extras. The iPhone 6 only comes in three colors. Users can choose which color and storage size they want, but once they do they’re stuck with them for the life of the device. The AT&T Lumia 830 will come with a black and green cover for giving the device some personality. Other covers will be available too. Storage can be added to the Lumia 830 using a microSD card slot behind the interchangeable covers. Wireless charging is also built into the Lumia 830, though it supports PMA charging and not the Qi charging that other Lumia phones do. The Lumia 830 is dominated by its plastic rear, but the edges of the device are in metal, lending it a more high-end feel in the hand.

This AT&T Lumia 830 deal seems to be well worth it, provided buyers are only looking for a device that offers some unique features with a few extras. The Lumia 830 isn’t as fast as high-end Android smartphones, but it does come pretty close to replicated the user experience that buyers get with high-end smartphones. That AT&T decided to bundle a FitBit Flex with the device is great for users who were already planning on purchasing one or were at least researching them for a separate purchase later.

So far, the Lumia 830 on AT&T is the first Lumia 830 to arrive in the United States on a major carrier. Whether it’ll be available on T-Mobile, Verizon or Sprint remains unclear.
