iPhone 5 Deals Drop Price to Absurd Low

New iPhone 5 deals offer cheap upgrades to those unwilling to cough up the extra money for an iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a number of iPhone deals sprout up, tempting consumers looking for a new smartphone this holiday season. We’ve seen iPhone 6 deals, iPhone 5s deals and today, we’ve unearthed some very enticing iPhone 5 deals that could lure in consumers that are trying to get into Apple’s ecosystem on a budget.

eBay is offering up several new iPhone 5 deals that slash the price of the unlocked iPhone 5 down to an absurd low. These are some of the cheapest prices that we’ve seen for Apple’s aging former flagship and they will be alluring to those looking to replace a broken phone, those looking to upgrade from an old phone and those looking to upgrade from a dumbphone.

iPhone-5

The retailer is currently offering up the 16GB iPhone 5 for about $240 off-contract. That’s just about $400 cheaper than the 16GB iPhone 6 off-contract and far cheaper than the iPhone 6 Plus off-contract. It’s also offering the 32GB iPhone 5 for $270. Again, that is much cheaper than most unlocked iPhones including last year’s iPhone 5s. There are a few caveats though.

These iPhone 5 deals are not for new iPhone 5 models. Instead, these models are refurbished which means that they should be as good as new. The seller is offering free economy shipping but those that want the iPhone 5 faster are going to have to pay extra. Those ordering it today should get it between December 9th and December 22nd which means that it should, in theory, arrive ahead of Christmas. It’s not clear how long these deals will last so those interested will want to think about taking a leap.

Those that want to pay less can also take a look at an iPhone 4s deal that drops a refurbished version of the 16GB iPhone 4s down to a mere $150. The iPhone 4s is extremely old and may not get any more software updates but the price alone makes it worth a look, especially to those that are simply looking for a temporary replacement.

Apple’s iPhone 5 is still in good shape. The device recently hit the two year mark and celebrated with an upgrade to Apple’s iOS 8 update. Apple typically keeps its former flagships updated for three years before kicking them to the curb which means that the iPhone 5 should move up to iOS 9 when the update is released in 2015.

iPhone-5-1

The iPhone 5, unlike the iPhone 4s, features an aluminum design, 4G LTE data speeds, a larger 4-inch Retina Display, improved camera and processor, and more. While it comes with some likeable features, the device is overshadowed by the iPhone 5s, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Apple no longer sells the iPhone 5 though it recently started offering the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, devices that come with an assortment of powerful features including larger displays. The iPhone 6 comes with a 4.7-inch display while the iPhone 6 Plus sports a 5.5-inch display. In response to these releases, Apple dropped the iPhone 5s price down into its $99 on-contract price point.

The iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and cheaper iPhone 5s serve as a few of the top alternatives to the iPhone 5 though they’re not the only ones. Retailers are currently offering up flagship Android smartphones for cheap with top devices like the Galaxy S5, LG G3 and others on sale for far less than their starting price. Price tags for top devices will continue to decline as we push further away from release dates and into a new generation of flagship smartphones in 2015.
