As 2015 progresses we’re starting to hear more and more about many key flagship smartphones that are coming soon, and that includes the LG G4. Earlier this week the upcoming LG G4 smartphone was somewhat confirmed by LG themselves, following some recent rumors, and now even more proof that a release date is near have emerged.

The popular LG G3 was announced back in May of 2014 and quickly became one of the best Android smartphones thanks to some impressive specs and a big 5.5-inch HD screen. We’ve heard a few reports about the upcoming LG G4, and after rumors of the display surfaced this weekend we’re now seeing additional details that hint towards a release date being closer than many think.

Last year some initial rumors started floating around about LG’s upcoming smartphone, but nothing solid has surfaced just yet. While we’ve been hearing plenty about the Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9, the new LG G4 has been flying under the radar, until now. The new LG G4 recently cleared WiFi certification, one of many steps needed before a release to the public.

According to a new report out of GforGames, the LG G4 just completed its WiFi Certification from the WiFi Alliance, suggesting that the phone is already a finished product and the company is doing final rounds of testing and certifications before gearing up for a release.

While the news of a device clearing WiFi isn’t all that noteworthy, it is good news that progress is coming along smoothly, and that a release could be here sooner than the late May and and summer release of the LG G3 last year. On top of that, the leak mentions the device model number, listed as LG-H811, and confirms what we already knew, which is that it will be running the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

We know a new LG smartphone is coming in the first half of 2015, but recently a new trademark filing was submitted by LG aiming to trademark the name G3, G4, G5, G6, and all the way up to the LG G9 smartphone. Not to mention an LG G4 Stylus trademark. Meaning they have no plans of abandoning the name, nor their high end smartphone plans moving forward.

According to multiple unconfirmed reports and new rumors the LG G4 will be coming in early 2015, possibly earlier than the May unveiling of the LG G3, and even sport a stylus to directly compete with not only the Galaxy S6, also the Galaxy Note 4 and the new Note 5 when it arrives in late 2015.

If the above leaked details about the device clearing WiFi certifications is accurate, LG could be on track for a much earlier release date than previous years. The G3 arrived a few months earlier than the G2 in 2013, and we could be looking at a faster release here in 2015 with the new G4 as well. A move which would be helpful considering it appears that we’ll be seeing the HTC One M9 and the Galaxy S6 both on March 1st announced from each respective carrier. Two of LG’s biggest competitors in the mobile space.

As it stands the LG G4 is shaping up to be a rather impressive phone with a 5.5-inch 3k display, an 8-core processor with 3GB of RAM, a better camera, possibly a bigger battery, and much more, but we don’t know too many details yet. As a release nears and other devices are announced in March, expect additional information and leaks to surface giving us a better idea of what to expect.
