The iPad Pro is expected to be Apple’s best tablet yet, coming with a larger display than what’s currently equipped on the iPad Air 2. Here are five things that you should know about the iPad Pro.

The rumored larger iPad has been gaining steam over the last couple of months, and it has become of the the company’s most anticipated rumored product.

The iPad Pro will most likely come with a larger 12-inch screen, with rumors suggesting that could almost reach 13 inches. Internal hardware is something that hasn’t been discussed, but it’s safe to assume that the iPad Pro will come with a fast processor and a lot of memory that could put the iPad Air 2 to shame. Likewise, the price point will most likely be higher than the 9.7-inch iPad because if the larger display and better performance.

Of course, nothing is official yet as far as the iPad Pro is concerned, so we’re merely going off of rumors, but if you’re interested in buying such a tablet, there’s no harm in getting informed about what the iPad Pro could be.

Here are five things you should know about the iPad Pro, based on rumors.

iPad Pro Release Date

Many rumors in the past have suggested that the iPad Pro would launch at some point this spring, and that wouldn’t be too surprising. However, a new report states that production has been delayed and Apple won’t release the iPad Pro until September later this year.

According to Bloomberg, the iPad Pro release date is delayed until September, which actually might be a blessing in disguise, as September is usually when Apple announces new iPhones, so the company could also take that time to unveil the iPad Pro, or it could wait until October when the iPad even rolls around.

iPad Pro Price

The price of the iPad Pro is something that remains up in the air as to this day, as recent rumors have not focused on the cost of what a larger tablet like this could cost to consumers.

However, the iPad Pro will undoubtedly be a step up from the iPad Air 2, which is currently priced at $500 for the entry-level model. From that, we can take a guess that the entry-level iPad Pro will cost a bit more than $500 — maybe $600 or $700 for the basic option.

That’s assuming that the iPad Pro comes with faster internals than the iPad Air 2 and more memory. Plus, the larger screen definitely adds some extra costs for Apple.

iPad Pro Design

Most of the chatter that we’ve heard about the iPad Pro has been about its design, so there are many details about the design of the rumored tablet that users can gloss over.

The body of the iPad Pro could be just 7mm thick, but not as thin as the 6.1mm iPad Air 2.

Furthermore, the new tablet is rumored to come with stereo speakers, thanks to the addition of two more speakers at the top of the device rather than just at the bottom.

Perhaps what’s more interesting is that Apple may market the iPad Pro has a horizontal tablet, rather than a vertical one, seeing as how all of Apple’s press shots and demos are with the iPad standing up, rather than being in landscape mode. That will definitely be something new for the company, but it’s said that the position of the Home button and the front-facing camera won’t change from current standards.

iPad Pro Accessories

As far as accessories are concerned, the iPad Pro could be getting its own stylus. While there are many styli to choose from for your iPad, Apple is rumored to be making its own, and it could be the smartest stylus on the block.

According to recent Apple patents published by the USPTO, Apple has patented a stylus that has some pretty smart guts. Specifically, the stylus would be able to recognize touch gestures, and would also come with numerous smart sensors in order to be able to perform “hover” gestures, similar to that of many Samsung devices. This would allow you to hover the stylus above the display in order to perform certain tasks without tapping on the screen with the stylus.

The late Steve Jobs has mentioned in the past that styli for touch screens is a bad idea, but Apple has toyed with the idea for a while now, including back in the 90s with its Newton tablet. Plus, styli would be great for educational and professional use with the iPad, as taking notes with a pen could be intriguing for many users, rather than having to rely on the keyboard.

These patents go along nicely with a report from last month, when KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple could introduce a stylus add-on with the iPad Pro, as users could benefit from it with the larger 12-inch display.

iPad Pro Features

The iPad Pro could be getting a handful of new features that current iPads don’t have.

Of course, the aforementioned stereo speakers are one feature that will be big with the new tablet, but it’s also rumored that Apple could add USB 3.0 ports and a mouse and keyboard input to the iPad Pro, making it act more like a computer, rather than a tablet, or at least a hybrid.

This is a bit interesting, as Apple has always on Bluetooth to connect keyboards to the iPad, so adding a dedicated port to the iPad Pro for a mouse or keyboard is a bit odd.

However, the possibility of a USB port on an iPad is something that could greatly benefit users, and it would turn the iPad Pro into something like the Microsoft Surface where it could act as both a tablet or a laptop, depending on how you use it.
