LG G4 Release Date & Specs Rumored

Published

on

With the Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 both officially here and available today for pre-order, rumors and leaks are starting to turn towards what’s next from LG. That of course, as we’ve seen rumors and images of already, is the upcoming LG G4. And while we’ve seen a few leaked images already, today we’re getting more details on the specs, as well as a potential release date.

Last year the LG G3 was announced in late May and arrived over a month later, far behind the competition. However, that release was earlier than the G2 before it, and the G2 arrived even earlier than the original Optimus G. Here in 2015 we’re hearing LG will once again speed up production, and potentially reveal the LG G4 sooner than many originally expected.

In early February the new LG G4 smartphone was somewhat confirmed by LG themselves, following some early rumors, and now we’re getting a few more details about LG’s next smartphone. Lately we’ve been hearing about two devices, one being the LG G4, and another offering a premium option that will be even better, and arrive later this year.

Why you should wait for the LG G4 release.

This is reportedly the new LG G4

Earlier today some images surfaced of what’s reportedly being called the LG G4 Note, a device coming later this year to take on the Galaxy Note 4, iPhone 6 Plus, and anything else, but today we’re also getting a potential release date for the highly anticipated LG G4.

A few weeks back we received what could be our first images of the new LG G4, and they showed a device that’s wrapped in a familiar plastic frame, buttons on the rear, but surprisingly had a curved display similar to the LG G Flex series. No other LG G flagship has had a curved display, but that could finally change here in 2015.

Today reports out of the Korea Herald are reportedly confirming the new LG G4 is actually coming sooner than many expected, and their sources have confirmed it will in fact have a curved screen. However, it won’t be flexible like the G Flex and G Flex 2, but still have a slight curve to help built the company’s new signature look.

The Korea Herald states that they’ve spoke with sources close to LG, and the company plans to announce the new LG G4 at the end of April. This is a full month earlier than the LG G3 in 2014, and we could see an accelerated release date too. Rather than waiting well into July before it hits shelves, it could debut in May around the globe and from all major carriers here in the United States.

LG expects to sell nearly 10 million LG G4 smartphones in 2015, and that could be achieved by a faster release compared to the device revealed last year. Their sources claim they’ve confirmed the screen will sport the same 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD resolution, but have a slight curve to it, similar to the leaked image above.

Sadly no other specs, details, or information was given. That said, earlier reports and rumors state it will come with the Snapdragon 810 8-core processor 3GB of RAM, 32 and 64GB storage options with a micro-SD slot, a large 3,200 or bigger battery. LG will increase the camera to 16 or 20 megapixels, retain the rear buttons and laser auto-focus features, and launch running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop similar to the LG G Flex 2. However, if a late April announcement and May release is in the works, we could see it launch with Google’s latest Android 5.1 Lollipop release.
