Easy Mode adds shortcuts to the most used settings, makes the clock and all of your app icons bigger and simplifies using the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge. You still own a smartphone and you can still download apps, check email and browse the web, but it is a little easier.

After you spend a month or more with the Galaxy S6 you may decide that it is time to go back to Standard mode, and that’s as simple as tapping a few options. You can switch back and forth between the standard mode and the Galaxy S6 Easy Mode without losing any of your other settings or apps.

To turn on the Galaxy S6 Easy mode you’ll need to go into your settings. Here are the steps to take.

Go to Galaxy S6 settings from the home screen.

With the Galaxy S6 display on and the phone unlocked (looking at the home screen) pull down from the top edge of the screen. You’ll see a small number of settings and some notifications. Tap on the small settings cog in the upper right corner.

Turn on Galaxy S6 Easy Mode and then choose which apps to use if you want to change any.

Scroll down until you see Easy Mode in the settings. Tap on Easy Mode.

On this next screen tap on Easy mode at the top and then scroll down to the bottom to choose the default apps. I turn off the standard Email app because I check my email in the Gmail app, but you don’t need to use these settings if you don’t want to.

When you are ready, tap on Done and the screen will go black for a few seconds while the Galaxy S6 Easy Mode starts.

When the phone comes back you will see screens similar to those below. You can tap on the plus icons on the screen to the right to add shortcuts to other apps you like to use. Tap on the plus on the screen to the left to add contact shortcuts to call someone quicker.

Easy Mode includes a Magnifier app to make reading small print easier.

You can also use the Galaxy S6 magnifier app to magnify text up to 5X, so that you can easily read menus and other small text without squinting or grabbing a pair of glasses. This is a very handy feature. You can also turn on a flashlight in this app. When in the magnifier app you can slide the bar at the bottom to magnify more.
