The Batmobile upgrades will help you beat the many tank battles faster and the Batsuit upgrades will help you get around the city and take out more enemies before they have a chance to fight back. If you constantly lose hand to hand fights, upgrade the armor.

The Batman Arkham Knight combat and gadget upgrades allow you to deliver faster takedowns of the enemies and to knock out key opponents’ weapons before the fight starts.

Take Out Medics First

When you are in a big fight it may seem like the enemies keep getting back up to take you on, and in some cases that’s exactly what is happening. Medics are embedded with the bad guys and they can revive bad guys that you knock out, bringing them back into the fight.

When you see a medic in a white outfit you should make it a priority to take them out. This will help you end battles faster and get on with the story and with side quests so that you can gain upgrades.

Batman Arkham Knight Side Quests

For the first several hours of the game play you should stick to the main story mode, but once you get past Ace Chemicals and unlock bridge access to the rest of the islands you’ll notice that many side quests start to appear on your mission select screen. Now is a good time to start taking on these side missions and unlocking extra points.

Many of the early Batman Arkham Knight side quests are easy to complete and will help you earn fast upgrades. After completing part of the main story, I like to look for nearby side quests that I can complete before I leave the section of the city so that there is less time spent flying or driving around.

Riddler Challenges

Challenges throughout the city allow you to earn points for beating times.

Look out for Riddler Challenges in Batman Arkham Knight. You’ll find one of these as you advance in the story and you’ll earn points by completing that story, but afterwards you’ll see an option to re-play in a time trial that can also unlock points if you beat it fast enough. These are often challenging, but another good way to level up faster.

actually I have found a way to grind for xp in Batman Arkham Knight what you do is this (this will be a simple version there will be more detailed one on the batman arkham knight wikia

find a fireman in need of rescue. Initiate a fear takedown. engage in freeflow then grapnel away. find a rioter and get the snot out of him. (more is better) and you will gain XP for the encounter. then get far enough away to make the Fireman rescue thugs to reset and start again.

the location I used was the fireman group on Bleake Island, by penguins safehouse with the two sentry guns, by the bridge, near GCPD. and just glide on the tightrope above and then use the fear takedown.
