iOS 8.4 Release Time: 5 Things You Need to Know

Published

on

The iOS 8.4 release time and iOS 8.4 release date have been confirmed and today we want to take a look at the most important things iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users need to know about the next big upgrade to Apple’s iOS 8 operating system.

Apple’s iOS 8.4 update was confirmed several weeks ago with a release into the company’s beta program for developers. In the weeks since the initial release, we’ve seen Apple roll out the upgrade to those in the public Beta Software Program and we’ve seen the company detail the contents of the update on stage.

At WWDC 2015, Apple debuted its new Apple Music platform, a service that will compete against the likes of Pandora, Rdio, and Spotify. On stage, Apple tagged Apple Music with a June 30th release date and many believed that that would be the day that Apple would release iOS 8.4.

While the iOS 8.4 update has been in beta for several weeks, it has been without official release information. Apple’s WWDC announcements were open-ended and up until today, the company did little to clarify its plans for iPhone, iPad and iPod users running iOS 8.

With the iOS 8.4 release time and iOS 8.4 release date now official, we want to take a look at the five most important things you must know now about the update’s release.

iOS 8.4 Release Date Announced

Senior Director of Apple Music Ian Rogers, the former CEO of Beats Music, has confirmed the iOS 8.4 release date ahead time and it’s not going to be today.

The iOS 8.4 release date is June 30th, the same day as the Apple Music release date, and they will both help to usher in a new era for iOS 8 and Apple’s music platform.

The date doesn’t come as too much of a surprise given that iOS 8.4 will be brining Apple Music functionality to iOS devices. This also means that we will not be seeing another iOS 8.4 beta for the public or for developers.

iOS 8.4 Release Time

Rogers also confirmed the iOS 8.4 release time and it’s a little different than what we and many others were expecting from the update’s arrival. (He removed it from his blog post but we still expect the update to arrive a little bit earlier than usual.)

Instead of Apple’s usual 10AM PST window, the company will release the iOS 8.4 update at 8AM PST. That’s extremely early but there’s a reason for the move.

Beats 1, Apple’s Worldwide radio station, will kick off at 9AM PST with Zane Lowe. If you recall, Lowe came over to the Apple from the BBC and he will be the DJ for Apple’s new streaming radio show.

So, here’s how that 8AM PST iOS 8.4 release time breaks out for the United States and other key regions around the world. While it will come early in the United States, it’s going to come late in other places:

  • Eastern – 11 PM
  • Central – 10 AM
  • Mountain – 19 AM

And in the international community:

  • London – 4 PM
  • Moscow – 6 PM
  • New Dehli – 8:30 PM
  • Shanghai – 11PM
  • Tokyo – 12AM
  • Melbourne – 1 AM
  • Auckland – 3 AM

Apple is usually pretty precise with its iOS 8.4 release times so you’ll want to keep an eye out right as the clock strikes 8AM on the United States’ west coast.

Apple Music

Once iOS 8.4 is released, you’ll gain access to Apple’s new music application which includes the company’s new Apple Music platform. This is the most important feature coming with iOS 8.4 and it’s one that you should research ahead of tomorrow’s iOS 8.4 release date.

We’ve put together a quick guide and some release date tips that will take you through the most important pieces of information ahead of tomorrow’s big day.

One other thing to note. One, Eddy Cue has confirmed that the company will seed a new version of iOS 9 beta with Apple Music on board. We assume this will happen sometime in July but that’s not confirmed.

We’re currently on the second version of iOS 9 beta though the update hasn’t been release to the Apple Beta Software Program just yet. Apple confirmed a public iOS 9 beta for July so it’s possible that we’ll see Apple Music be a part of the first public iOS 9 release.
