10 Things to Know Now About the Fallout 4 Release

As we push onward towards the Fallout 4 release date, we continue to see new and important release details emerge. Today, we want to take a look at everything we’ve learned in the past few weeks and paint an updated picture for those of you that have already pre-ordered or are thinking about buying the game before the Fallout 4 release in November.

Last month, Bethesda finally confirmed the rumors. It’s working on a follow-up to Fallout 3 and the successor will be out later this year.

The developer confirmed tons of details on stage at E3 2015 in Los Angeles but it didn’t confirm them all and we’ve continued to see Fallout 4 release details pour out of Bethesda and its various retail partners. These include details about the gameplay and details about the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition that sold out quickly in the United States and in Europe.

With new Fallout 4 details swirling around, we want to take an updated look at the most important things to know right now about the Fallout 4 release. This covers new details about the regular version of Fallout 4, the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition, and various other details including information about Fallout Shelter.

If you haven’t been paying attention in the weeks since the game’s announcement, this will catch you up. Here’s what you need to know now about the Fallout 4 release for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

It’s Already Winning Awards

Fallout 4 is still months away from its release but that hasn’t stopped it from winning awards.

Fallout 4 recently won Best of Show from the Game Critics Awards. The Game Critics Awards polled votes from 38 media outlets and the game that made the huge splash right at the start of E3 is the game that garnered the most votes. That’s not the only award it won either.

It also won Best PC game and Best Role Playing Game. For a list of who voted for Fallout 4, take a look at this lengthy list of respected critics. It’s far too early to crown this game but we wouldn’t be surprised if it wins a few more awards after its release in November.

Fallout 4 Demo

While we probably won’t get a playable Fallout 4 demo before its November release, we will definitely see Bethesda demo the game again on stage.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard will be making an appearance at Quakecon 2015 and it appears that he will be showing off Fallout 4 once again. From Quakecon:

Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to join Bethesda Game Studios’ Game Director, Todd Howard, for an exclusive QuakeCon presentation of Fallout 4 – taking place on the Ventrilo Main Stage on Friday, July 24^th at 1pm.

It looks like select panels will be live streamed over Bethesda’s Twitch channel but we’re not sure if that will include the Fallout 4 demo. It’s also unclear how this demo will differ from the ones we saw at E3 2015 in June.

Fallout 4 Mods

Mods are a huge part of Bethesda’s open-world RPG games and they will be present in Fallout 4. Just not until 2016.

We recently outlined many of the key details that you need to know about Fallout 4 mods. Here are the cliff notes for those who haven’t been following alone:

Fallout 4 Creation Kit will be released for the PC next year, early 2016, date unknown.
Xbox One owners will get access to these mods first, release date unknown.
Howard continues to stress that mods will become available for the PS4 though support will arrive after support for Xbox One
Fallout 4 mods are free

Fallout 4 mods won’t be available right when the game comes out but that hasn’t stopped developers from getting to work. We’ve already seen at least one Fallout 4 mod emerge ahead of the Creation Kits release and we expect to see more arrive as we get closer to the Fallout 4 release and 2016.

New Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition Details

The Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition is still very difficult to find and we’re seeing resellers charge ridiculous prices for the game on sites like eBay.

We haven’t discovered any hidden stock but what we can tell you is that we continue to see Fallout 4 Pop Boy Edition stock emerge at various retailers in Europe (France and Germany) and we’ve also seen the game come back into stock at one retailer in the United States.

Last week, Walmart released a Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition that was available for about an hour on its website. While this isn’t a sign that we’ll see a flood of inventory, it does leave the door open for future releases down the road.

If you’ve been looking to buy this game and you don’t want to pay top dollar, we recommend keeping a close eye out. Who knows, you might get lucky. You can also take a look at some nice looking Pip Boy Alternatives that might even be better than Bethesda’s version.

Pip Boy Mod for Moto 360

We’re seeing fans of the series get creative ahead of the Fallout 4 release date. If you own a Moto 360, LG G Watch R, or LG Watch Urbane, you can download a Pip Boy skin that simulates the interface of a real Pip Boy.

A Pip Boy watch face for these devices can be downloaded right here. It shows key information including weather, steps taken and time. A must have for fans of the game.

A user on Reddit has posted what appears to another version of this custom Pip Boy watch face for the Moto 360 though his version, as far as we can tell, isn’t available to the public just yet.

Fallout 4 Weapons

We continue to see fans of the game dig up new and important details ahead of the game’s release. Thanks to Bethesda’s E3 gameplay trailers, sleuths have managed to put together a comprehensive list of some of Fallout 4’s weapons and weapon modifications.

The game is going to offer players deep weapon modification, something that wasn’t available in Fallout 3, and we also expect to see a wide range of weapons to compliment that. Here’s a running list of the weapons and mods that have been uncovered thus far:

Why You Might Want to Pre-Order & Why You Might Not

We know some of you have been thinking about putting in a Fallout 4 pre-order ahead of the game’s release in November. If you’re on the fence, we’ve put together some reasons why you should pre-order Fallout 4 and some reasons why you shouldn’t pre-order the game.

There Will Be Fallout 4 Problems

If you’ve been holding out hope for a bug-free Fallout 4, you can let go. In an interview with Game Informer, Todd Howard touched on potential Fallout 4 problems. And while the company has learned a lot from its past releases (read: Skyrim), he’s the first to admit that there will be issues with the game.

Fallout 4 is a massive game which means that it’s extremely complex. Complex games always have growing pains. Just look at Elder Scrolls Online and The Witcher 3.

Howard and his team have likely learned a number of lessons from games like Skyrim and Fallout 3 but there are still going to be problems to solve and patches to release. Something to keep in mind if you’re not the early adopter type.

You Can Now Pre-Order Fallout 4 Strategy Guides

Fallout 4 will feature tons of quests. And during your questing, you’re going to be faced with some difficult decisions and some difficult tasks. If you think you’re going to need help in that regard, you might want to think about picking up a Fallout 4 strategy guide. They’re currently up for pre-order.

Fallout Shelter for Android Release

If you own an Android phone and you’ve been looking to get your Fallout fix ahead of the Fallout 4 release date, you’ve probably had your eyes on Fallout Shelter. While it’s currently available on iOS, it’s not available on Android. At least not yet.

Fortunately, Bethesda says that it’s on track to get it out before the Fallout 4 release date in November. According to Bethesda’s Pete Hines, it’ll arrive in August. Fallout Shelter isn’t Fallout 4 but it does have some things in common with the game including a well-known character.

Preston Garvey, leader of the Commonwealth Minutemen, is a character in Fallout Shelter and he should play a role in Fallout 4. Exactly what that role will be is unclear.

The most important thing that you need to know, as a prospective buyer or a future owner, is that the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition release date is the same date that Bethesda plans to release the regular old version of Fallout 4.

The Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition release date is set for November 10th and from the looks of things, the company isn't anticipating any setbacks, even with the huge demand for the collectors edition. It has a production plan and it's sticking to it.

We don't expect the company to encounter any delays with the Fallout 4 release date and if you already ordered a Pip Boy Edition, you should expect to have it show up on your doorstep or the doorstep of a loved one in time for the holidays.
