Lifeproof FRĒ iPhone 6s Case Makes Your iPhone 6s Waterproof

Published

on

Recent tests seem to confirm that this year’s iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are more water resistant than ever before. They aren’t waterproof, however, as a dunk to the bottom of a pool was enough to knock one out of commission.

Enter the Lifeproof FRĒ. Designed to fit both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s (sorry; we iPhone Plus owners have to sit this one out), it guarantees total waterproof protection of up to 2m (6.6ft) for an hour.

The entire phone is covered inside the FRĒ; it doesn’t just go around the outside edges.

The ruggedized outer case offers drop protection of 2m (6.6ft), so if you stumble and send your phone flying, you won’t probably won’t need to worry about replacing it.

It can also stand up to IP-68 tests like circulating talc powder for 8 hours without the dust making ingress.

Lifeproof promises some impressive quality control by factory water testing every case, with secondary water testing of random units.

If you want to make your iPhone 6s waterproof, the FRĒ will be available starting November 2nd;  you can pre-order now for $80. It comes in six different colors and offers a 1-year warranty. Lifeproof also offers a FRĒ POWER case for the iPhone 6 that brings the ruggedized waterproofing and doubles the battery at the same time for $130, but there’s no guarantee that it can work with the thicker new iPhone models.
