iOS 9.2 Jailbreak Successful, but Don’t Get Excited Just Yet

We’ve been waiting a while for an iOS 9.2 jailbreak, but an individual developer has successfully achieved an iOS 9.2 jailbreak — more specifically an iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak.

An iOS 9 jailbreak was first released back in October last year just about a month after iOS 9 was initially released. However, the jailbreak was quickly patched up about a week later with the release of the iOS 9.1 update from Apple, which closed up the exploits used for the iOS 9 jailbreak.

Since then, we haven’t seen a new jailbreak, and users have had to go through iOS 9.1 and iOS 9.2 without a jailbreak. The good news is, that could be changing sooner or later, as an iOS 9.2 jailbreak has been rumored to released soon.

In fact, one individual jailbreaker has claimed he has a jailbreak available. The iOS 9.2.1 update itself isn’t even available yet, as it’s still in its beta stages, but Luca Todesco, who goes by @qwertyoruiop on Twitter has teased a screenshot of Cydia running on the iOS 9.2.1 beta on his iPhone 6.

The bad news is that Todesco says that he won’t release it and will instead leave that up to jailbreak teams like TaiG and Pangu.

However, this news does show us that an iOS 9.2 jailbreak is possible, and if an individual has successfully done it, then it’s likely that TaiG or Pangu have done it as well.

The thing is that we likely won’t see a new jailbreak release until iOS 9.2.1 releases, because if an iOS 9.2 jailbreak releases before the iOS 9.2.1 update arrives, it’s entirely possible for Apple to quickly patch up the exploits before they release iOS 9.2.1.

As far as when iOS 9.2.1 will release is up in the air, but it’s highly likely that we’ll see it this month at some point. After iOS 9.2.1 releases, then it’s highly likely that we’ll finally see an iOS 9.2 jailbreak, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Activator

One of the most popular jailbreak tweaks of all time is Activator, and it's easy to see why. Activator allows you to set up automations as well as shortcuts for all sorts of different actions, like automatically turning on your alarms for the next day and even changing songs using the volume buttons.

This is especially true now that Activator works on iOS 10, so you can combine it with everything that Apple added to iOS 10 and iOS 10.2.

AppDrawer

One of the best features of Android is the app drawer, where all of your installed apps appear when you bring it up. Something like this is awesome, since you don't have to have all of your apps on the home screen, and now the feature is on iOS through Cydia thanks to AppDrawer.

Browser Changer

Do you use a web browser on your iPhone other than Safari? Then it might be nice to actually change iOS's default browser to your preferred one using Browser Changer. This means that any links from other apps will now open in the web browser of your choice and not just default to Safari.

Bytafont 3

iOS 9 added a new San Francisco font that is still in iOS 10. If you're not a huge fan of it, you can use Bytafont 3 to change the font to whatever you want. The possibilities are endless here.

DeleteForever

Not a big fan of the Recently Deleted folder in the Photos app? While there isn't an iOS 10 Cydia tweak to get rid of the folder, you can at least bypass it altogether when deleting a photo.

DeleteForever will allow you to permanently delete photos with one swoop, rather than deleting a photo and then having to delete it again from the Recently Deleted folder.
