How to Delete Your Nexus 6P Browser History

Google’s new Nexus 6P has many different security measures. From a fingerprint scanner, Android 6.0 permission controls and more. However, security and privacy are still on many users minds. Another big one is browser history, and today we’ll explain how to delete or remove the Nexus 6P browser history.

Actually, browser history or form data is something many users of all smartphone ask us often.  There are multiple reasons a user may want to delete their internet browser or search history on a smartphone, everyone has their reasons, and below are a few steps to do exactly that.

Luckily Google Chrome is the only browser on the Nexus 6P, so the process is very quick and easy. Some phones have more than one browser, but not with Google’s latest. As a result, we have one simple set of instructions that will quickly show users how to cover up their browsing habits and tracks.

Android devices save almost everything we do. From Google Maps navigation, Google searches, browsing the web and more. It’s convenient when we need it, but also something that can be removed, turned off, or cleared from history. Especially the browser, which saves every site we visit. This is what we want to remove, and what many users email us about.

It only takes a moment, and even better — you can even clear individual searches — rather than everything, so it doesn’t look like you’re hiding your tracks.

Users may want to do this so kids can’t see what you looked up for a birthday present, Valentine’s Day ideas, general privacy concerns, or for many other reasons we won’t get into. To each their own.

Instructions

Being a Google Nexus 6P means there’s just Google Chrome, and one easy area to go to with all the history you need to remove. Below are some screenshots of what owners will be looking for when they delete or remove the browser history.

To start open Google Chrome. This is the web browser. Once open look up and tap the three dots “Menu button” at the top right. This brings up a popup menu, where you’ll scroll down and select “History”.

In the history tab users will have access to a list of all the website ever visited using Google Chrome on the Nexus 6P. Then users only need to tap the “clear browser data” button at the bottom and select which information they’d like to remove, as shown in the screenshots below.

You’ll get a similar option of check-boxes as our screenshots, and users have control over what to delete or what stays, or you can wipe out everything. Another great benefit of Google Chrome is you can remove individual site visits or searches, instead of all or nothing like Samsung’s browsers, so it doesn’t appear that you’re hiding your tracks. Just hit the x to clear each individual search or visit you’d like removed.

Users need to be careful not to clear “Auto-fill data” as this is where Google helps us with daily things or forms. Like email addresses, sign-in names or passwords that users have selected to be saved by Google Chrome. Meaning you’ll have to re-sign into everything. No one wants to do that. Unless there are sites you don’t want people know you’re signing into.

That’s it, clear it all or clear just what you want, and we’re all done. However, there’s another method to avoid all of this which we’ve also added below.

Incognito Mode

If users don’t want to ever worry about clearing their history, we can take steps so it never gets saved to begin with. This is a feature in many browsers (including Chrome) called Incognito Mode. When you’re in the browser hit the same menu button up top and open an Incognito Tab. This makes it so Google Chrome won’t remember or save any history, passwords, login information or sites visited during the session. This is the best way to do things, and something many users should consider if privacy is a concern.

Thankfully being Android there are multiple browsers from the Google Play Store that do this all the time, rather than making uses open a private tab. Dolphin Zero is a good one, or Opera has a browser-wide “privacy mode” that can be enabled if you’d like. Basically replacing Google Chrome with something a little more — private. Everyone has a preference. Use Chrome, or head to the Play Store and choose from one of many different browsers to visit the web.

It’s worth mentioning that these steps mentioned above are similar for almost all Android smartphones and tablets, and most browsers on the Play Store. Clear that browsing data, or stop it from being saved from the beginning.
