PS4 Awakening Black Ops 3 DLC Release Details
The PS4 Awakening Black Ops 3 DLC release date arrived on February 2nd. This is part of a 30 day exclusive for the PS4 and gamers can purchase the DLC now through the PlayStation Store or with a code purchased online or in stores.
The PS4 Black Ops 3 DLC release time is in the middle of the night.
The important Black Ops 3 update is already live, and includes the new maps. When you download the February Black Ops 3 1.05 update you will automatically download the new maps.
PS4 Black Ops 3 DLC Playlist Details
Activision confirmed that there will be a dedicated Black OPs 3 DLC playlist for the four new Awakening maps. David Vonderhaar confirmed that there is a limited time dedicated playlist, but that won’t be the only place you can play.

Vonderhaar confirmed that the Awakening Black Ops 3 maps will be in all playlists and the frequency will be increased. This includes the new Awakening Maps in hardcore playlists.
After spending a week with the DLC, the new maps come up fairly frequently in the update.
PS4 Black Ops 3 DLC Deals and Price
There are two options to buy the PS4 Black Ops 3 DLC at this time. You can buy the individual Awakening Map Pack for $14.99 digitally on the PlayStation Store.
You can buy the Awakening Black Ops 3 DLC, or you can buy the Season Pass, but you shouldn’t try to buy both.

If you are a new player who needs the base game and the DLC, you can buy the PS4 Black Ops 3 game and the season pass for $79.99 at GameStop. This is a good deal, but the game is pre-owned.
So far there are not many Black Ops 3 Season Pass deals and no deals on the individual Black OPs 3 Awakening DLC. Don’t expect to see many deals until the next map pack arrives.
PS4 Black Ops 3 Awakening DLC Size
The PSN Store showed a placeholder size of under 20MB for the PS4 Black Ops 3 DLC in the Awakening Map Pack, but it is much larger.

Activision confirms that the combined PS4 Black Ops 3 Awakening DLC size, with the patch, is 9.1GB to 9.34GB.
In short, make sure you have enough room on your PS4 for the DLC, or you may find yourself deleting items in a hurry. You should also make sure you set aside time to download it.
Awakening Black Ops 3 DLC Review
After spending a week playing the Awakening Black Ops 3 DLC on PS4 we have a review of the multiplayer side of the game.
Overall the new maps are fun, but there are some exploits and glitches that Treyarch is working to fix. While buying the Awakening DLC does limit your pool of players to enter matchmaking with, we’ve yet to have issues joining a match in the midwest part of the U.S.
Overall this offers a fun mix of maps and we like that it is possible to play them in our favorite types of modes.
Disable or Delete Awakening Black Ops 3 DLC
The Awakening Black Ops 3 DLC is part of the large 1.05 update for Black Ops 3, so you download the new maps when you update the game. You cannot uninstall this update to play without the DLC. In fact there is no simple option to disable Awakening black Ops 3 DLC if you want to play the original maps with a larger pool of players.
You can use two options, that are either complicated or expensive, to play Black Ops 3 without the DLC, effectively deleting the Awakening Black Ops 3 DLC from your system.
What’s In the Black Ops 3 Awakening DLC
We know what is included in the Black Ops 3 Awakening DLC, and there is a rumor that one small surprise is waiting for users when it does arrive.
On all consoles there are four new Black Ops 3 maps for multiplayer and there is a new Black Ops 3 Zombies experience called Der Eisendrache, which takes us back to the original cast.

The Skyjacked Black Ops 3 map is one of the remakes of a popular map from earlier Call of Duty games. Skyjacked is a reimaginign of the map Hijacked from Black Ops 2. Although this is not completely new, there are many changes to the map to enable the new movement options that Black Ops 3 delivers. In the teaser for Awakening DLC, Dan Bunting, Game Director of Multiplayer at Treyarch tells us that this is the map that he is most excited about in the first set of Black OPs 3 DLC. It is, "fast, frentic and chaotic." according to Bunting. The video above shows off a preview of the Skyjacked Black Ops 3 map with multiple vantage points of the map, that show off the cover, some of the lanes and the multi-level design. There are many places to wallrun on Skyjacked and the preview offers a nice way to get an early look ahead of the full release and other public previews. | ||||||
