5 Best Smartphones [June, 2014]

Consumers who are looking for a smartphone this month and aren’t tied to a particular operating system or manufacturer are going to have a ton of options to choose from. We want to help make the search a little bit easier and here, we take a look at the devices we think are the five best smartphones for the month of June.

2014 got off to a slow start but as we’ve started moving towards the fall, we’ve seen the 2014 smartphone lineup start to fill out. In March, the HTC One M8 hit shelves to the delight of Android users. In April, we saw the Samsung Galaxy S5 arrive in the United States and elsewhere, and since then we’ve seen Motorola release the Moto E and Moto G, cheap devices aimed at those that don’t want to shell out a ton of money for a quality smartphone.

These, of course, joined a loaded roster of smartphones that includes devices like the Moto X, LG G2, Galaxy Note 3, Nexus 5, Galaxy S4, Nokia Lumia Icon, Nokia Lumia 1520, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5 and a whole lot more. Those are honestly just the tip of the iceberg.

While it’s nice to have a lot of choice, the sheer amount of options can be overwhelming for many consumers, especially those that don’t keep tabs on the smartphone world.

With that in mind, we want to help narrow things down for those that may not know what to look for. So, in an effort to help those who might need some help picking out a new device, we breakdown the devices we think are the five best smartphones overall for the month of June, 2014.

Our list may differ from yours but these are the devices that Gotta Be Mobile editors have selected for recognition this month. We feel like the devices listed here deliver the best, all-around package at the moment.

Now that WWDC 2014 is over and done with, it's pretty clear that the iPhone 6 release will land some time in the fall. What this means is that the iPhone 5s will remain Apple's top option for the month of June and for the foreseeable future. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

While the price of the iPhone 5s hasn't seen a significant drop since it was released back in September, it's still a device that lives up to its premium price point.

Its industrial design, Retina Display, 8MP iSight camera, 64-bit processor, and iOS 7 software should help to put the iPhone 5s near the top of shoppers lists during the month of June and beyond.

Apple may not be offering a discount but we're starting to see retailers slash the price of the iPhone 5s, so be on the look out for tasty deals.
