As we creep deeper into 2014, we’re starting to hear about some of the tablets that may come to replace the current crop. Rumors suggest that a Nexus 8 could arrive this summer alongside a new Android 4.5 update for Android users. Rumors also suggest that Google may replace the Samsung Nexus 10, a device will turn two later on this year.

We’ve also started to hear some initial rumors about Apple’s plans for the iPad. iPad rumors state that Apple could release new, upgraded iPad models later on this year to replace last year’s iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display. Problem is these devices, like the others, are likely still several months away from launch which means that consumers looking for a tablet this month will have to settle for the current crop.

The tablet market is a little more stable than the smartphone market but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a number of solid options available to consumers. On the contrary, there are some fantastic choices for those looking for a new slate.
