The Fallout 4 release date won’t hit for a few more months but that hasn’t stopped new and important release details from emerging in the buildup to November 10th. We continue to see key Fallout 4 release details land for PS4, Xbox One and PC buyers and today we take a look at five things that are worth your attention.
In June, Bethesda confirmed the release of Fallout 4 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Those who own a PS3 or an Xbox 360 will have to upgrade or get left behind. The game, a true successor to 2008’s Fallout 3, won’t be arriving in 2016 or 2017. Instead, the Fallout 4 release date is confirmed for this year and it’s coming up quick.
At E3, the Fallout 4 release date was confirmed for November 10th and almost immediately, the game went up for pre-order. The regular version of the game is now available through various retailers and Microsoft is offering a bundle that includes Fallout 3 for Xbox 360. The game will be compatible with the Xbox One once Microsoft launches its backwards compatibility features.
Bethesda is also selling a popular Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition that comes with a real-life Pip Boy that buyers can attach to their arm and connect with a smartphone. The Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition is sold out in the United States and we may not see it return ahead of the Fallout 4 release date.
While that’s bad news, most of what we’ve seen since the Fallout 4 announcement has been good news and today, we want to take a look at a few of the new details that’ve popped up in the last few days. These are key Fallout 4 details that every buyer should know about as we press on into summer.
Fallout 4 Problems
If you don’t want to deal with problems, you might not want to pre-order Fallout 4. That said, it sounds like Bethesda’s learned from some of its past failures and will be applying those lessons to Fallout 4.
If you’ve ever played a Bethesda open-world game, you know that they contain bugs. While it’s easy to get on the developer for the issues, it’s important to remember that games like Fallout and Skyrim are complex games with tons of moving parts. Even some of the best games of 2015 like The Witcher 3 came with a multitude of problems due in part to their massive scope.
Skyrim in particular was riddled with bugs and performance issues. Bethesda’s Todd Howard, in an interview with Game Informer, admitted that it took the company “a month or two before we really had a handle on it.”
Howard, who is leading Fallout 4 development, says that Skyrim’s failures should help it limit the amount of Fallout 4 problems:
For us, [the player’s] saved game is the number one thing. If the game crashes that’s bad, but it is nowhere near as bad as someone’s saved game being hosed. That’s our scenario that we will do anything and everything to avoid. We made a lot of progress given how Skyrim went, but we did it during Skyrim. This just builds on that.
However, he’s quick to admit that there will be Fallout 4 problems and that’s something that you’ll need to think about in the run up to the game’s release in November. It could take weeks, even months, before Howard and his team eliminate the biggest Fallout 4 issues.
Pip Boy for Moto 360
A user on Reddit has posted what appears to be a custom Pip Boy watch face for the Moto 360, Motorola’s popular Apple Watch competitor. The app appears to tell the time, show the amount of steps taken during the day, and show things like humidity. We can’t speak to their accuracy.
One version of this mod appears to be available to the public right here. That one also appears to support other smart watches including the LG G Watch R, LG Watch Urbane. The one seen here in the photo is a little bit different.
Fallout 4 Mods Emerge
One of the most exciting announcements that Bethesda made on stage was in regard to Fallout 4 mods. Next year, the company will release a PC tool kit that will allow Fallout 4 players to construct their own modifications for the game. Best of all, these mods will become available, for free, for Xbox One. PS4 users will have to wait though it looks like mods are heading to Sony’s console as well.
Well, fans of the series are already plotting out Fallout 4 mods and development has begun without Bethesda’s official modding tool.
While we haven’t seen a ton, we have seen one interesting customizable Rail Gun mod emerge well ahead of the Fallout 4 release date. The developer says that the mod will become available as soon as the company releases the PC tool to developers and fans of the game.
This could be the start of a trend. While we won’t see Fallout 4 mods until 2016, we could see a number of mods emerge in the months leading up to its release.
New Fallout 4 Release Date Details
The Fallout 4 release date is set in stone but we’re still seeing new release date details emerge for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
GameStop is now selling two versions of the official Fallout 4 strategy guide. A $30 version and a $40 Vault Dweller’s version that is a collectors edition. Both guides will be ready for the November 10th release date and GameStop is taking pre-orders for both in advance.
New Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition Details
If you’ve been following the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition release, you know that the release hasn’t been easy for those trying to buy it. That said, if you’re still in the hunt for a collectors edition, you’ll want to keep an eye on U.S. retailers in the days, weeks and months ahead.
Earlier today, Walmart released a Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition online. It was available for about an hour before it was scooped up by some lucky fan or someone looking to sell it for top dollar on eBay.
We probably won’t see this happen too often but it’s proof that you need to be keeping an eye out if you don’t want to pay $200+ for the game come November.
Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition Release Date
The most important thing that you need to know, as a prospective buyer or a future owner, is that the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition release date is the same date that Bethesda plans to release the regular old version of Fallout 4.
The Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition release date is set for November 10th and from the looks of things, the company isn't anticipating any setbacks, even with the huge demand for the collectors edition. It has a production plan and it's sticking to it.
We don't expect the company to encounter any delays with the Fallout 4 release date and if you already ordered a Pip Boy Edition, you should expect to have it show up on your doorstep or the doorstep of a loved one in time for the holidays.
