Mafia 3 Story
While 2K Games isn't saying much about the Mafia 3 release date, it has outlined a number of key details about the gameplay and the story.
Mafia 3 will not bring you back to Empire Bay nor will it feature Vito Scaletta as the main character. Instead, it features a completely different setting with a new protoganist.
As expected, the game is set in Louisiana. New Orleans to be exact. It will take place in the 1960's, a decade in which there was significant social upheaval in the United States. Martin Luther King Jr. was assasinated in 1968.
The game will put you into the shoes of Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam War veteran who returns home and finds himself immersed in the seedy underworld of New Orleans. Here is what 2K Games is saying about the character and the plot at this point:
"Mafia IIIfollows the story of Lincoln Clay, a disenfranchised Vietnam veteran, returning from combat and looking for a home and a place to belong. Orphaned as a child, Lincoln at last achieves a semblance of family with the city's black mob, finding the surrogate father and brother he has longed for. But when Lincoln's new family is betrayed and slaughtered by the Italian mob, he becomes fixated on revenge and wages a brutal war against the Italians, disrupting the balance of power in the seedy underworld of New Orleans. As the story progresses, Lincoln allies himself with other criminals and builds an empire and a new family of his own that transforms the city."
The company also says that the game will take shape based on choices you make which means that it will probably have some Fallout/Witcher 3 in it.
