In Pokémon Go, Trainers need to join one of three teams. Which Team they choose aligns them with Gym leaders and other players. According to participants, these teams are Red, Blue and Yellow, the colors associated with the original titles for Gameboy Color.

The Teams act as a giant territory control game within the Pokemon Go community. The point is to push your team to control as many Gyms as possible.
