Windows 7 Beta Ready Again for Downloading
After a big ballyhoo at CES 2009 about the public beta for Windows 7 being available this past Friday, and then seeing the servers crash and burn, forcing Microsoft to kill the links for a time, it looks like you can now get it from Microsoft TechNet. 32-bit and 64-bit versions are both available.
Loren Heiny has it running on his HP Mini 1033CL and has a quick report.

I think there still are too many people trying to download the Beta. I can get to the serial key but when I click download nothing happens. I get a page refresh but no download window. Too bad, I hope Microsoft is able to fix this other problem soon.

Does upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista trash Windows Mail and force you to use Windows Live Mail? I’ve looked at the 2009 version of Windows Live Mail and it remains unusable on small screens. If upgrading to Windows 7 leaves you stuck with Windows Live Mail, beware.

OMG! WOW! That’s all I can say about Windows 7. I’m serious. I haven’t enjoyed a version of Windows this much since Windows 2000’s beta cycle began way back around December 1998. Hmm, maybe Microsoft just likes to finish each decade with a bang. :)

the d/l won’t work from Firefox; you must use IE or at least use FF with IE Tab installed.
