5 Best AT&T Smartphones [December, 2013]

While many consumers have turned their attention to 2014 and its rumored smartphone lineup, there are others that are still looking to buy a brand new device in the month of December. Many of those looking for a new device are looking for one on AT&T’s network. Ahead of the start of 2014, we take a look at the devices we consider to be the best of the best on Ma Bell’s network.

Over the course of the year, AT&T has done a number of things to make its network attractive to consumers. First, the company has expanded its 4G LTE network with the most recent expansion coming today. The carrier’s coverage now spans across 488 markets in the United States, putting it behind Verizon and its 500+ locations but firmly ahead of Sprint and T-Mobile, the latter of which launched 4G LTE only this year. The 4G LTE network isn’t the only thing that has grown at AT&T either.

Like its competitors, AT&T has offered up an extensive smartphone lineup throughout 2013. Early in the year, the company launched the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4 and later in the year, we’ve seen the likes of the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and Nexus 5 emerge from the shadows. Those looking for a smartphone on AT&T’s network will find no shortage of options.

That’s a gift and a curse though. A gift because it provides shoppers with a ton of options, a curse because it makes selecting a great smartphone extremely difficult. The end of the year, in particular, is difficult because companies have exhausted their 2013 pipeline, there is no more waiting.

There are certainly plenty of people that are now looking at devices like the HTC M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5, the latter of which is rumored to be heading to AT&T’s network. However, there are also those that simply need to buy a new AT&T smartphone in the next couple of weeks.

In an effort to help those in a bind, we want to offer up what we think are the five best AT&T smartphones for the month of December, 2013.
