Last week GreenPois0n released their iOS 5 jailbreak after many months of anticipation. Josh helpfully walked you through the process of applying the jailbreak to the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 and many rejoiced.
However, you Windows users probably noticed that the download to get the ball rolling only worked with Mac computers and much fist shaking resulted.
Don’t fret PC people, the Windows version of the jailbreak is now a reality. The GreenPois0n team added a download link to the original post. They’re also promising that a version for Linux users is coming soon.
You can follow the same steps outlined in Josh’s how to jailbreak the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S posts with this version. Just remember to follow all the directions and be sure your devices are updated to the correct version pre-jailbreaking.
I’m sure some of you out there are like me and give jailbreaking your phone or tablet a serious side-eye. Adam Mills provides four excellent reasons why you should not do this, including the loss of support from Apple.
If you’re not a fan of restrictions, of Apple telling you what apps you can’t have, and of the lack of porn in your iOS experience, you might want to consider it. Plus, you still get the benefit of Siri.
Those of you that do go ahead with this should consider adding to the tip jar over at GreenPois0n if you successfully jailbreak. They’ve put a lot of work into this.
