Adobe Launches Moviestar: HD Video on the Web

Published

on

Adobe ratcheted up the volume in the on-line media game with the announcment of Moviestar, which is the codename for the new version of Adobe Flash Player 9. The new version now contains H.264 support, otherwise known as the same HD now being shipped in the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD wars. Not only will the new Flash Player allow you to view HD content, but it will also feature High Efficency ACC audio support as well. Supposedly this higher quality audio format is the successor to the ubiquitous mp3 format. The upshot for consumers is that you’ll be able to access more formats at higher quality easier with the new player. (more details here.)

I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about this as the next few days roll on. Safe to say, though that the on-line media player wars just got a little more testy.
