When it comes to education software, one of the major players in the industry is DyKnow.

Their software will become an integral part of Alabama’s ACCESS distant learning program, which also utilize Tablet PCs.

More information can be found in the press release below:

DyKnow ®, a leader in interactive education technology will become a part of the state of Alabama’s ACCESS Distance Learning program. The ACCESS program, which stands for Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators & Students Statewide, strives to give all high school students an equal opportunity to take advanced level courses and electives that might not otherwise be available in their district by utilizing innovative technology. Currently, the software is slated to be used in 44 schools statewide, with long-term plans that include having a distance learning lab in every Alabama public high school.

The Alabama State Department of Education has purchased licenses of DyKnow Vision ® and DyKnow Monitor ® for use in virtual classrooms throughout the state. These classrooms, which are currently equipped with Interactive Video Conferencing and Tablet PCs, will use DyKnow software to enable teachers to instantly transmit content to student computers for annotation and review. Students’ personalized notes can then be saved and replayed at a later date. Teachers will also be able to see a bird’s-eye view of student computers during class and block distracting applications, even at a distance.

““We applaud the Alabama State Department of Education on its ACCESS initiative and its vision to create a model that can be leveraged by others throughout the United States,” said DyKnow President Laura Small. ““DyKnow software will help make that vision a reality as it bridges the communication gap between students and teachers, creating a true 21st century classroom.”

Alabama ACCESS was modeled after best practices from existing distance learning initiatives. A stated goal of Alabama ACCESS is to implement a program that will result in a model distance learning initiative for the state and for the nation.
