Amazing Surface Pro 3 Deal Returns With Big Savings

on

The amazing Surface Pro 3 deal that included big savings on some configurations of Microsoft’s 2-in-1 notebook and tablet is back for all to take advantage of.

The Microsoft Store, the retail arm of the software maker began offering the Surface Pro 3 deal again earlier this week and it’s unclear how long the savings will last.

Anyone purchasing the Surface Pro 3 with 128GB of storage and an Intel Core i5 processor stand to save $100. The Surface Pro 3 with 256GB of storage and an Intel Core i5 processor costs $1,299 normally, but is now $1,149 dollars at the Microsoft Store. That’s a savings of $150. The Surface Pro 3 with 256GB of storage and an Intel Core i7 processor is now $1,399, down from its regular price of $1,549. The most expensive Surface Pro 3 Microsoft offers is the model with 512GB of storage and an Intel Core i7 processor. It’s on sale for $1,799.

Surface Pro 3 Deal

There’s another part of the Surface Pro 3 deal making its return along with the lower pricing too. Buying any Surface Pro 3 from the Microsoft Store entitles users to a free Surface Pro 3 sleeve of their choice. Normally a Surface Pro 3 sleeve would run from about $19 to $39 online and at a Microsoft Store retail location.

Microsoft does make another version of the Surface Pro 3, the Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i3 processor and 64GB of storage space. Microsoft hasn’t cut anything off on the price of that device with this deal, but does include the free slave with purchase.

Microsoft cutting the price of the Surface Pro 3 is big. First, the device is quickly coming up on its first-year birthday. There are likely Windows shoppers looking for a new 2-in-1 who considered the Surface Pro 3, but decided to wait until Microsoft released a possible Surface Pro 4. This savings could push them over the edge.

Second, The Surface Pro 3 is the closest competitor to the iPad Air and new MacBook that the Windows ecosystem offers. Like Apple’s new MacBook Air, there’s just a single port for connecting to most devices. On the Surface Pro 3, it’s a full-size USB port, allowing users to plug their devices into it without having to hunt down an expensive adapter. The Surface Pro 3 also offers a separate power port, microSD card slot for more storage. There’s a dedicated Mini DisplayPort so that users can connect to a display and still have a free USB port too.

Part of what has made the device a success is its expandability options, but there’s also its design to consider. The Surface Pro 3 isn’t a notebook that can turn into a tablet. Instead, it’s really a tablet that can be a notebook if it needs to. Because it runs a full version of Windows 8.1 users can install apps from the Windows Store or from places on the web. A long keyboard port on the bottom of the device lets users add a Surface Pro 3 Type Keyboard and get something close to a notebook experience. An adjustable kickstand comes out of the back of the Surface Pro 3 to support the device on a desk or in a lap. To be clear, this Surface Pro 3 deal doesn’t include any savings on the Surface Pro 3 Type Keyboard, which sells for $129 extra.

Anyone interested in taking advantage of this Surface Pro 3 deal should probably act now. It’s not clear when Microsoft plans to roll prices of the Surface Pro 3 back to where they were before the savings. GottaBeMobile recently reviewed the Surface Pro 3 and found it to be great for productivity and entertainment. In fact, the only real problem with the device is that its Windows 8.1 operating system needs some additional work.
