Another Windows Phone 7 Ad Arguing Against Living the Smartphone Lifestyle

I’m still not sold on Microsoft’s ‘A Phone to Save Us From Our Phones” messaging, but the recent ads are some of the best we’ve seen from Microsoft for quite some time. In this one-minute ad, Microsoft pokes fun at smartphone users who ignore the real world in favor of focusing on their smartphones. Microsoft’s answer seems to be an improved smartphone home screen that displays more info than we’re used to, but the message is probably lost on the average consumer.

What this ad, and the ‘Really’ ad do is entertain viewers and get them to chuckle while seeing the Windows Phone 7 logo. No device specs, no carrier branding or other details. My guess is that Microsoft is just warming up and we’ll see more salesmanship in future Windows Phone 7 ads.

I disagree on this one Xavier – this is nearly as dumb as the Gates/Seinfeld duets, BECAUSE, the WinPhone7 units are eerily plugged into every social network – if anything, they have the potential to be even more OCD than a standard smartphone. Besides, I think it will utlimately just confuse users with whether their WP7 phones are as capable as a “real” smartphone. They may as well have advertised that we should all go back to Moto Razrs and simplify our lives. So where does that leave Microsoft if tech geeks aren’t hooked (well, except maybe for Thurrott) and average joes just know it’s not an iPhone or Droid?

I guess it would not take long before that Microsoft advertisement was parodied.
