Asus has been the leader of everything Netbook since day one, so it will be interesting to see what this might mean, if it means anything, in the follow-the-leader mobile computing space. DigiTimes is reporting that in order to save on administrative costs, Asus is considering merging its Netbook and Notebook divisions.
This potential shift is certainly interesting on a business front, but symbolically it has perhaps even more meaning. Given that so many consumers think of Netbooks as Notebooks anyway, and that those lines just keep getting blurrier by the minute it seems, it will be interesting to see just how the symbols may or may not affect reality.
