Asus is going to be jumping into the Android market and launching a handset featuring the Google Android handset in 2009. This isn’t Asus’ first foray into the mobile phone space, and given their recent success in disrupting markets with the EEE PC it will be interesting to see how this plays out. According to this DigiTimes report initial moves here by Asus will probably be branded under the AsusTek label, and then move into selling customized models to overseas clients. Overseas in this case, means overseas from Taiwan.
No word yet on which vowel, Asus will buy and use in triplicate for this new venture.
